What do you wear?

@Pammy53 I’ve taken Ambien for the past 21 years, going back to when it was released by the FDA. I don’t do anything weird on it except sleep great. I’ve had severe insomnia (my brain neurologist thinks narcolepsy?) since age four. According to sleep studies, I never get into deep sleep without Ambien. It’s part of why my body has aged so fast - because of how little sleep I get. Nine years ago Nocturia made my insomnia even worse, as has chronic pain. It’s hideous.

@Jetskier Last week my knee buckled and I fell down nine concrete stairs. Fortunately I “only” got a black eye and ear on the metal railing, and very severely bruised, including a concussion. So yep, falls suck. I’m lucky I didn’t break anything. With osteoporosis, my fracture risk is 11% higher than normal.

@snow - For crying out loud snow, you have got to be kidding. As far as I know osteoporosis has just 3 stages. 1, 2, and 3. I am a 2 and have broken both hips. A friend of mine is a 3, has lost two inches of height and told - DO NOT FALL! - You are very lucky indeed! - Pam

Snow, With that kind of luck, you should go around wearing a linebacker’s attire. Full pads and a helmet. Hope you get to feeling better.

@Pammy53 I’ve lost two inches of height across the past five years. I’m only 48. Part of why I’m looking forward to having metal hip replacements is that they’ll be stronger than my own hips. Nobody has ever told me what stage I’m in. I’ll be getting an updated bone scan this summer. @Jetskier Thank you for the well wishes. Bruises take a long time to heal on me because of how much Aleve I take, which thins the blood. But I’m doing better than 10 days ago; that’s for sure. It’s very weird to have a bruised entire ear, including scabs on the inside of it. I think the corner of the hand railing went right in there on my way to the ground. It was certainly alarming. I probably shouldn’t be living on a second floor, but I don’t like seeing people outside my windows on the ground floor; it makes me anxious. I like to keep my blinds pulled up to get max sunshine inside for anti-depressive benefits, so I like to live on the top floor. This is my first time on the second floor.

@snow

I jacked my knee up worse than it already was this weekend.

I am going to the doctor's office in the morning tomorrow and my parents are hoping that they can give me a cortisol shot because this is not the first time I could not walk, but it is the longest that it has affected me.

I don't know how I feel about getting a shot. My doctor's office has an X-ray but even my parents think I need it checked by a proper knee doctor. I don't think I can wait much longer because I cannot walk much without a lot of pain and I have steps to go down at my apartment.

@jetskier,@pammy53, @snow an interesting discussion, and as I have had on and off problems with bedwetting, I would never thought I would say anything close to that @snow (to be happy to wet at night). But I can understand you - I am experiencing something similar. Waking up (more or less) to pee (or while peeing) several times during night - and not fall asleep easily again is impacting my sleep. And without sleep zombie mode is close… So I think I would continue with max absorbency and sleep - if I had the choice.

@snow Terrible to hear about your fall. I hope you are recovering fast. Take as good care of yourself as you can.

@snow - I am currently taking Alendronate Sodium Tabs 70mg once a week. I know that you have an aversion to supplements, but taking K2 and D3 together helps to draw calcium into your bones. I found it on my own, a friend of mine had his Dr. tell him to take the two together. Do check with your doc, especially if you are taking D3 already. - Pam

@ThatFLGuy I cannot recommend hydrocortisone shots enough. They make me feel like a newborn baby for weeks afterward, like I’m walking on pillows. Sometimes a shot is the only way to get the pain and inflammation to go away. I remember 14 years ago when they helped me 100% for 6-12 months. Now I can only get them every three months, they only help 30%, and the benefit only lasts for six weeks, but it’s still very much worth it to me. The shots are uncomfortable going in but not excruciating and they’re totally worth it. Some doctors really do a shitty job at it, however. I’m really lucky that the main Orthopedic surgeon I’ve had over the past 14 years has done such a great job with them.

@Allan_59 Thank you!

@Pammy53 I get those things in my daily Centrum for Women vitamin. Centrum is more regulated than almost any other supplement brand so I trust them.
