Waking up after the accident

I have been doing better at waking up during the night to go pee. But as of late when I’ve been waking up, I have had a diarrhea accident.

If I had to choose a wet accident is way better than a diarrhea one. I’m diagnosed with IBS, but this is all pretty new to me.

I’ve tried different types of alarms, but it always seems in the past when I was struggling with peeing myself at night. I would wake up after the accident. Now that I’ve been doing better at controlling my pee at night I’ve been waking up with a diarrhea accident. Not sure if this normal or if anybody has tips.

Dealing with IBS is mostly adjusting your diet. I don't understand though if you wake up from the accident? IBS usually comes with very painful cramps.

I’ve been better at waking up for urinary accidents. I have had no luck in waking up prior to bowel accident is what I was trying to say. Sorry sometimes my writing isn’t very good. I do get the cramps and pain that comes with it, but when I sleep, I never seem to wake up in time.

Your writing is fine, i was just wondering because it is very rare that people who are not severely disabled, or under the influence of some drugs have bowel accidents in their sleep. This is for sure not a normal issue for IBS and seems more of a neurological blocking that prevent signals to reach your brain and make you wake up.

I have no control over my bowels, so if I had diarrhea while sleeping, I would definitely have a Hugh mess on my hands. Wouldn’t even be able to make it out of the bed before it happened. Whenever I have an upset stomach or feel diarrhea coming on, I always make sure I’m wearing a pull-up. The best thing to always do is watch your diet, take fiber supplements, use Loperamide, and keep your stools formed. It’s the only way I can function.

I hadn’t posted anything in a while on this site, used to visit often. When the system was updated, I was forced to come back in under a different name. It’s a good place for support and learning.
