It turns you into a smurf

It lets the person know you like their post.
In my case, I also use it to keep track of what I’ve read.

You know, jrpooman, it would be nice to have a box to click that just said "read".
I'd like the same for you-tube videos - but no way to mark "read" if I don't want to give a thumbs-up or -down. (I can count my thumbs-down on the thumbs of both hands without needing to take off my socks!)

I think that makes a lot of sense, Jim! Of course they would turn purple! A very deep purple at that!
