I'm finally attending my first urologist appointment tomorrow morning to see a specialist nurse they have asked me to attend with a full bladder why???
I'm incontinent and wear diapers how can a go with a full bladder I don't understand?
Any help or advice would be great thank you

They probably want to do a measure the flow of urine, how fast, how much and how long it takes. Can't do it if you're incontinent.

if your bladder is not full when you get there they may have you drink to fill your bladder to be able to conduct their tests

This sounds to me like their normal protocol for any urology appointment. It was for mine until I had RP surgery.

Call the office and ask to speak to their nurse, not the receptionist, and discuss with her/him the reason for your visit and issue with incontinence.

In addition to being needed for flow test and check whether you can empty your bladder fully, a full bladder is also needed to use an ultrasound to check whether you are doing the pelvic floor exercises correctly as they can see and show you on the screen the liquid level in your bladder moving when you contract your pelvic muscles.

@nappyman It's just the standard test unfortunately. My advice is to just try and hold it, make sure you're fully protected and if the worst happens/they don't see you in time then they can't be mad.

Hope all goes well! Mad to think I got referred almost two years ago but have yet to see a urologist. However, got an MRI scan coming up so hopefully via the Long Covid route I may get some answers. It seems to be mainly a neuro issue now anyway.

I had my first appointment with the urologist yesterday morning I was seeing his nurse for flow test I explained that I'm incontinent and that I'm wearing a Diaper she was really understanding and she wanted to scan my bladder to see how much fluid I had in there I was shocked when she told me I had 150ml especially as my pad was extremely wet. She asked me to try and push out what I could into jug which will weigh what I've passed but the machine wasn't working so have to go back at later date and have it done again at least next time I know what to expect.
