Hi Everyone,

It has been 2 months since vaginal delivery of my baby and till day I have issues with Urine retention and constipation. The issue started right after my delivery where I had a retention of 1.5L at the hospital which was drained using a catheter. Since then I have had urine retention issue on and off but at a lesser degree (~300 ml). I have had 2 instances of UTI and antibiotics has resolved it.

I get very less urge to urinate and when I go, I don't void everything. I sit on Sitz bath every 2-3 hours and continue to void good amounts 3-4 times right after the bath or right after trying to urinate on my own. I have done multiple bladder scans, done self catheterization but they don't show much retention (~100 ml). I have pain (and almost burning feeling) in the urethra around the very end of the urethra. Sometimes I also have pain when I touch the vulvar area.

On the mean time, I also have constipation which has resulted in hemorrhoids and fissure. and I am taking Colace, Miralax, high fiber diet and fiber supplements on a daily basis. Not sure if these 2 issues are related.

I have consulted 2 different urologist and their advise for me is to wait it out and it has taken a great deal of physical and mental stress in my daily life.

My next step is to do a UDS and Kidney scan but the doctors don't think it is necessary.

Has anyone gone through this issue? any suggestions? Any help story similar to mine and what has helped>

Hi NoCans, yes I started to see PT since 2 days ago so I have only had 1 consultation session. the PT thinks I have tensed muscles in the Urethra. Do you think continued PT will resolve both the issues?

It could. I currently take Diazepam and Baclofen suppositories at night. Helps a bit. When I'm stressed my pelvic floor is a crumpled ball of tin foil.

If you are still doing ISC, we just had a forum topic a few days ago about D-Mannose and Hiprex for UTI prevention
