Update on my surgery.

I had my dead pain pump removed today. The surgery in itself was fine. However my case worker was supposed to be with me when I got out of recovery and go home with me as you have to have someone to accompany you home and she abandoned me there. My surgery was running a bit late (only by a half hour/45 minutes minutes!) and she said “I can’t just wait around all day!” and she just left. The nurses were really nice at least (I admittedly was in tears because I was scared. I’m in a wheelchair I just can’t get home alone!). They told me she was super rude to them because they kept saying “you can’t just leave him here!” They scrambled and pulled a miracle and were able to get me medical transportation home. I also don’t have a home health aide this weekend. I’m just gonna stay in bed.

People are just unbelievable. I already felt alone because I went in by myself. I already did the case worker a favor, all she had to do was meet me there when I got out of recovery and go home. She screwed that up too.

And did she even call to see if I actually made it home? Of course not. You just can’t trust anyone.

I’m recovering okay just am way more wiped out than expected. My aide agency was able to have someone here to help yesterday and today. Their hours are wonky, 4pm until midnight but I’m just grateful to have help. I need help with trash and food etc. An amazing friend got me enough Chinese food to get me through the weekend so when I’m by myself I can just pop it in the microwave. I’m pretty constipated from anesthesia and my regular pain meds but did have a bowel accident last night that I needed help with. I’m usually very embarrassed having new people help but at this point I don’t even care. I am too weak to do it myself and I just welcome the help. Hopefully my energy comes back sooner rather than later. I can’t shower until tomorrow afternoon and I can’t wait! My regular week day aide will be here and probably gonna need her help with that.

I’m glad it’s all over. Hopefully won’t need any more surgeries for awhile. I’m supposed to be moving to a completely wheelchair accessible apartment soon. The inspection was actually last Thursday and because of these grandfather clause laws it didn’t pass. I was initially upset but now I’m actually happy that I have more time to recover. My landlord said the repairs that need done are a priority. I’ve waited a long time for this move to happen, I can wait a bit longer.

Onward and upward!
