They say "No question is a stupid question", so here I go...

As I've commented several times, I am new to being incontinent. I am still figuring things out.

I tried the Assurance brand Pullup, and it seems to disintegrate once you pull it up and down a couple times to use the restroom. It is the leg seams that fall apart for me.

I have a package of the Assurance Briefs which look pretty nice, but last night suggested they are not designed for heavy voids.

Perhaps I am missing something, but once I put the diaper on and adjust the tapes, I feel like I am "locked in" and from that point forward any business I do is in the diaper. The diapers do not seem to stay in place that well when I first put them on. I can only imagine if I tried treating them like a pullup what would happen.

Am I correct that once I am in the diaper, I do my business in the diaper?

It's up to you, but if you do not at least try to get to the bathroom, your skin problems and other issues will increase. If budget is not a concern, a better quality product might be a good idea.

Keep in mind that there will be days in which you aren't able to get to a bathroom to change when you really need to. I never intentionally 'use' my brief - if I can make it to the bathroom (my problem stems from a head injury; much of the time, my urges are normal and I can go long stretches of time - 3 to 6 hours) with no problems, but at least twice a day, my bladder empties itself as if it had a mind of its own, so wearing protection isn't a choice for me. I would be a shut-in, otherwise. My point is this: for me, it isn't usually worth wearing a truly premium product, but the lower-end options aren't adequate for my level of incontinence, so I wear something that can handle at least 2 episodes. The other day, I was running errands and it was one of those days with unexpected delays and changes of plan, By the time I got to a place with a private bathroom, the capacity of the brief I had chosen to wear was just about exceeded. With the unpredictability of my problem, it would not have been a good thing to have 'used' the product intentionally. To me, it's there for when I can't prevent the loss of control.

I wish you well.

Thank you for your response. I appreciate it greatly.

I have always delayed using the restroom for as long as possible. I ignored the prompting that I need to go to the point where when I realize I need to go, it is going to be a problem.

I will be trying a better brief in the near future, when the ones I have are used up. Part of the problem that I believe I have in anatomical, and another part is 'mental'? When I lose control, the volume of urine floods the front of the brief and the urine starts flowing up and leaks out. The 'mental' aspect is my lack of awareness that I need to go. I guess I need to set a timers to go every 90 minutes or so, maybe 60?

I have several medical issues that just developed recently. I am hoping to get them more under control in the near future?
