So, I think that the new medication (Lubiprostone 8 MCG Capsule) that my GI doctor is trying to put me on is freaking out of Medicaid. They are requesting information from my GI doctor before they approve it. The crazy thing is that the insurance is from the same hospital that my GI doctor works at so kind of crazy.
My medications will go from $200 for everything to a 30 day supply to $285 for just the (Lubiprostone 8 MCG Capsule).
The insurance needs records that show my diagnosis to get me on the drug as it is for IBS/IBD. Which my GI doctor is going to list what I have but wants to wait for another test, but if they do not approve it which my Gi talked to me about but then I would just have to do a phone call with her and she would add IBS/IBD to my treatment plan and then resubmit it and hope they say okay.
One thing she said is that this is going to be a test to see if that medication works and if I have the one side effect (vomiting) then we will stop it and figure out what to do.
So here is hoping I get a text tomorrow from CVS saying everything went through.
