Sleeping

I had prostate surgery a month ago and have total urinary incontinence. I am able to manage OK during the day but have a lot of trouble at night having to get up and change every two hours. Has anyone found a good overnight solution?

I had the problem of releasing my bladder at night. Once I went to sleep, I slept soundly for 4 hours. I found Northshore Go Supreme pullups helped and held a lot. They are expensive, but worth it not having to change the sheets each morning.

You can request a sample pack which cost about $10 in shipping.

For a relaxing night I‘d not suggest to rely on Pull-Up style but instead give full tabbed diapers a try. They are much more absorbent and don‘t leak as much as pants for the same price…

I also had to make adjustments to my sleeping habits... First, I had a catheter for 12 days and found it easier to sleep in a recliner instead of a bed. After twelve days the catheter was removed, I decided to try the bed again with just the Assurance underwear you buy at Walmart... For my entire life I have been a "side sleeper" and when I slept in the recliner I noticed that I had to essentially sleep on my back and it not only helped with the incontinence, but also allowed my sinues to remain clear all night long... which I found amazing. For whatever reason I do not leak reclining or sitting... and my PT told me it was because my bladder was relaxed.... but when I get to the edge of the bed or chair, I have to do a mental kegel and hold.... to contol the "spurt" I know that will come... but I can somewhat control that and walk, stiffly and slowly, to the bathroom... I also use a red beer pong solo cup placed strategically before I stand to catch that initial spurt... saves on a lot of absorbent underwear.... but using the cup would be nearly impossible in public... but. .I also found out why several acqaintences over the years wore coverall jump suits... I now own some coveralls that allow you to manipulate all these procedures without being noticed.... I also am retired, don't have to be anywhere at anytime, so I have essentially told family and friends that I will probably withdraw from society for a year..... I hope that is not the case but I am very uncomfortable in public right now... and I will miss my grandson's first basketball game of the season tonight.... he understands... but I will try to make it to a few of his game hopefully after the new year...... good luck....
