Post prostate surgery

More than likely, you will have no control at all, you won't have any warning. Kagles. Walking, and patients will be the key to recovery and regaining control. It's major surgery and takes time to both heal and strengthen your muscles.

After the catheter was removed, I relied on pull-ups. I used Depends until I regained some control and switched to thick pads and then on to thin pads. This will take time, but don't give up; it will get better. My wife said it was like living with a two year old again, only I knew what was supposed to happen.

You probably will not feel the urge to pee for 4 to 20 weeks ("awhile" sucks). I am at week 7 and do not feel the urge.

Also you may want to make appointments in the mornings when you will be dryer because your kidneys processed out much of the extra liquid during the night (common sense until it affects you and becomes reality).

For some, recovery can be in a few weeks, but I gather most is closer to 12 to 20 weeks. Kegels and walking seem to be a common thread. My family doctor stated that men who had a regular gym / workout routine did better because they had built up their core abdomen muscles (which also strength the pelvic floor muscles).

You will realize that half your progress is changing your habits. Once you have been seated for 30 minutes and stand you will pee. After several weeks of kegels and learning to hold, you will make it to the bathroom. Your first improvement will probably be at night where some of the pee ends up in to toilet bowl.

If you look at my profile and scroll down to my feeds, you will find a lot of information. I look at people's profile and scroll through the threads that they started. It helps to see other peoples questions, solutions, and where they are now. The generalities that I make are based on what I have read in this forum.

The 'urge to urinate' is something that has frustrated me. My surgery was over 15 months ago. I usually don't leak unless I am active. So I more or less have decent control of my bladder. Time will go by and I get a minor sensation, go pee, and its like a flood. I still don't have that strong sensation that my bladder is full. I'm not sure I will ever get back to what it felt like pre-surgery. Adjusting to a new reality. Your future may be different.

I am taking 10 mg generic Cialis. My doctor started me on it the day the nurse pulled out the catheter.

I used GoodRx through HEB (grocery store pharmacy) because my insurance only covered 6 tables per month.

Similar experience here. Prostate removed 5 years ago at age 47. I was 3rd generation with it.

The pills don’t work for me, so I’m using Trimix injections for wood. Amazing.

But water works have not been kind. I leak after using the toilet every time ... that wet dribble down the pant leg if I didn’t wear a pad. And it leaks like crazy when it’s excited for sex. And when the bladder is really full, I have about 30 seconds to find a bathroom or the muscle gives up and the flood gates open. Every day is a challenge to know where public restrooms are located. And the best option at bedtime for me is to stay padded.
