Oxybutynin and ED

Curious how many guys here take Oxybutynin (or any antispasmodics) and it creates issues in the bedroom? I take 30mg daily to help with the bladder leakage but both the wife and I get frustrated when I can't hard enough to have sex.
When I stop taking Oxybutynin everything "down there" works great but I have to wear protection during sex unless we're in the shower.
Does anyone take something else that doesn't cause these issues? Keep in mind I've been on Oxybutynin for over 20 years.

Wow, that’s a lot of Oxybutynin. I’m sorry you have to take that much. I used to take that much but I quit when, within 1.5 years, every one of my teeth had at least one cavity, not to mention seven crowns and four root canals (because dry mouth was so severe). I also quit having verbal conversations because my throat was so dry. Before Oxybutynin, I’d only had three cavities in my 41 years.

Weirdly, when I decreased Oxybutynin, I actually had less urgency and pain, with decreased frequency.

Myrbetriq has far fewer side effects overall than Oxybutynin. It may not cause ED. It’s worth a try. For me it doesn’t work quite as well as Oxybutynin, but I still recommend trying it.

I believe that any antispasmodic drug can cause an erection problem.

I'm currently not taking Oxy, but I was taking a lot of immodium at one time, which is another antispasmodic. I also experienced soft erections. I found that taking a small amount of Zinc and vitamin E supplements were effective. Just don't go overboard. Ask your doctor first. High doses are not good for you. I found that taking just 15 mg of zinc and 200 IU of vitamin E daily definitely firmed me up. Good luck.

I’d like to say thank you to you and everyone on these boards for being so open and honest. It’s so refreshing in this day and age, particularly when it comes to the taboos around our particular disorders. I applaud us!

Thanks for the input! I agree 30mg is a lot but over the years it seems as though I've built a tolerance.

Most if not all of the incontinence control meds do cause dry mouth and blood pressure control issues, among others. The dry mouth causes you to drink more water, which makes you pee more. Vicious cycle. Dry mouth can cause tooth damage. Damned if you do damned if you don't

How much does the Oxybutin help with your incontinence? Do you leak consistently, full voids? I am on medications as well that cause erection issues. I do use viagra, when I think it is going to happen, I will take one. I still sometimes won’t get an erection with the viagra. I have no sensation of when I do void, I use a reusable bed pad. It seems anytime after sex, I do wet pretty close after the end and when erection goes down.
I will say that if you do get a script for viagra or the generic, it runs like $100 but if you get a GoodRx card Walmart it is $17 for 30 pills. It really is tough fighting medication with other medication to be able to perform. It is odd even without an erection I can get to climax. I also have some sort of odd issue where I will go hours where it is feeling I am climaxing non stop and I am sure many people may say that would be great. I promise it is not great both while at work having those sensations as well as it actually gets to be painful. My urologist said there is a name for it, I forget what it was named.
Sorry I seem to have jacked this thread.

Yes the Oxybutynin helps a lot with the spasms and that lessons how much I leak but I constantly dribble just not as much as if I'm not taking it. The exception is twisting motions to the left (getting out of a car) that can cause a complete void.
I take 22.5mg of Tadalafil daily (dissolves under tongue) and that helps when I'm on Oxybutynin but not needed when when I'm off it. Erections are great for sex but the worse when sleeping due to wet beds and annoyed wife.

I'm on 15mg of Oxybutynin,( Foley catheter/or straight cathing 6 times per day, and incontinence protection no matter what is used) and my Urology PA told me I will need to be on that the rest of my life for my horrible spasms, pain, and incontinence.

Also trying right now, combination of Avodart/ Flomax, to see if it will lesson the pain, it has some, but not enough. And taking all the above ends your sex life. But that has been a ongoing issue.

We were planning to try something else before all this virus came out and overwhelmed our health system.

When I wear a Foley catheter, I also have bladder spasms, but they give me orgasms! I am a female, btw, I don't know if the spasms are different for men.

@Bedwetter No orgasms here, just spasms with the Foley and leakage around the catheter, till my bladder finally settles down, and enjoys the ride, of not having to work for a while, I can keep it in as long as I want, or take it out when I feel the bladder is decompressed. I do feel they want me to keep it in long-term, but I haven't, yet.

ive been on oxybutynin for 25 years. my biggest dose was 20mg/day but now i'm between 10-15mg/day. never had a problem getting hard and can stay hard for about 90 minutes naturally and about 3hrs with about 5mg of viagra on an empty stomach. that 5mg will keep it popping up a lot for about 3 days before it goes back to normal, popping up when i want it too. i'm paralyzed from the chest-down, but thankfully that works reflexogenically still!

i must say though in 2016 i was starting to have trouble keeping it up, like really hard up. so i took 5mg of viagra every 3 days and spent a lot of time doing a deep tissue massage to it from the base to the head just trying to recreate those blood pathways. it was a couple hours total spread throughout the day and night, but in less than a year it was well worth the effort. i took pics throughout the year and i swear its like a couple of different guys even though its just of mine lol.
