Opinions on lighter pads for men

I am to the point where the maxi absorbent guards I'm using a overkill. I can wear one pad in my briefs all day and sleep through the night and it's almost always dry at slightly wet after all,The a time. I'm still having dribbles and small spurts at times so I still need pads but not big super absorbent ones. I can get Attends Discreet men's guards through my Medicare Plus insurance - will these be what I'm looking for?

To the best of my knowledge the only thing lighter in Male Guard pads are Depends "Shields". I tried them but found they hold almost nothing, maybe a dribble or two if you are lucky. They were so useless that I literally threw out the rest of the box.

I still dribble and leak also. Been using Kroger female pads for awhile. Much smaller...no 'overkill'. They do ok. I consider them inexpensive and don't use insurance.

Good idea 56vw, although I haven't tried them I would think that a women's incontinence pad might be perfect for minimal leakage.

How long after Prostate surgery does it take before you can start using lighter pads. It’s been 8 months for me and my incontinence it’s kind of still the same.

Here’s an FYI to let you know what I found for my husband. He also needed protection for dripping and light spurts but did not like the bulky feel of guards and that they sometimes allowed leaks to cause wet spots on his clothes. I saw this new product on Amazon. It’s called MDP4men. You might want to check it out. My husband has already re-ordered as he is very pleased with this new product.

My surgery was July 27th. I have been pretty dry since about November but have regressed a bit after radiation therapy that ended in late December and hormone therapy that is going in now.

What I mean by "pretty dry" is going from soaking 4 max pads per day to wearing just one max pad from after morning shower, all dat and then trough a night of sleep with dampness at worst.

Hi @ShellKnobCat, The operating word here is guards versus shields. Guards are a bit bigger and more absorbent than the average shield. Best way to compare is to find a package of each in the store and look at the picture and read any info that is available there and just compare. Even if the guard may seem to be a bit of overkill for just a little bit of urine loss I'd rather use those and be completely safe than use something of less absorbency and feel uncertain especially since I know how unpredictable urine loss can be!!

I have been using the Tena Men's Moderate pad, which works well for me during everyday use. They also have a lighter and a heavier pad, and I keep both in stock for specific situations. I use the lighter pad when I'm going to be working out of my house on the phone/computer all day. And I use the heavier pad when I have something like air travel or attending an event where getting to a restroom may be problematic. But the Moderate is my "go to" pad and I'm very happy with it!

Poise womens pads come in 5 "grades" or absorbancy. Don't care if they say "womens". If it ain't broke, don't fix it. I think the other brand is very similar, and the Kroger knockoff is probably the same.

I got the Attends shields and wore one for the first time yesterday and last night to sleep. I am happy to report that at the stage I'm in that the small pad seems to be working just fine. I had a pretty active day yesterday - went over to the marina and worked on the boat which meant crawling around in some tight spaces which caused a few squirts to occur. The pad absorbed them in good shape.

Update - the shields are working great for me. I put one on in the morning and it takes care of my dribbles though the day and a night of sleep. One of these days I'll get brave and try a day with just underwear. But not yet.
