Okay real question. Stitches?

So I really thought that my appointment on 28th was to get stitches out but that is a long time to have them in for (got them on the 7th when they took the temporary implant out) now I am debating on going to my PCP in the morning and asking about it.

Anyone have stitches in for a few weeks?

Going to call the hospital tomorrow morning to see what the appointment on the 28th is for.

I just saw my surgeon yesterday for my three-week follow-up. I asked her about how the incisions were closed up because I knew she used some type of glue. She said she used two layers of internal stitches and then used surgical glue over those to close up the skin. That made the healing process faster and I could shower the day after surgery. I have had surgical glue used on previous surgeries, too. In this modern-day I don't understand why your surgeon had to use stitches that had to be taken out. Typically stitches nowadays "dissolve" without having to be removed.

There must be a difference between the Axonic and the Medtronic devices. With Medtronic the surgeon does not implant the battery for the first stage. She probes to find the correct nerve in the sacral area, inserts the lead and connects to that nerve, and then attaches the temporary (first stage) device with the lead rolled up and attached with a flexible belt that goes around your midsection.

I'm not sure what they're putting you through, but I wish you the very best as you continue on your journey.

I suspect he used either glue or dissolving stitches or both. It has become so commonplace that he just forgot to mention it to you.

I have definitely had stitches that weren’t removed until weeks later - most recently after foot surgery, but within the past few years, also knee surgeries, hysterectomy, melanoma that wrapped around my elbow. It depends on how large the incision is, how much digging they do, and for how long they have you open. It also depends on the part of your body. A couple of years ago when my dad drew blood on my forehead by hitting me with his cane, they used special stitches to minimize the scar.

But it seems unlikely with your procedure that the stitches would be in for more than 7-10 days. I say call your doctor about it.
