New doctor/hospital

Hey everyone!

Kind of a random question but I just switched insurance companies therefore I’m going to a new doctor in a different hospital system...my question is will the new hospital have access to my old medical records or is it just something I can tell them myself when I fill out new patient information? Thanks for any help!!

When you talk to your new provider, ask them to request records (you may have to fill out paperwork with your signature required to authorize this) from your previous medical provider. If they do not need or desire those records, that is their call.

If they don't want or desire the old records, you want to find a new doctor.
