Multiple urine streams at once

I am 7 weeks post-radical prostatectomy, and I seem finally to be rapidly making progress at overcoming the incontinence that came with the surgery. It isn't completely gone, but almost.

There is something I've noticed, though, that I wonder if others who had radical prostatectomy noticed. I haven't had a chance to discuss it with my urologist yet -- my follow-up appointment is another 5 weeks or so from now. When I pee, I often have 2 streams of urine going at the same time, aimed in slightly different directions. I've researched this a bit, and it sounds like it could be a symptom of scar tissue in the urethra. I wonder if it goes away on its own, if it just always stays that way, or if it gets worse. From what I've read, the "treatment" is watchful waiting or dilation of the scar tissue, or urethrotomy (cutting the scar tissue, which apparently has a very low (10%) chance of success, or urethroplasty to replace the scarred urethra tissue with a skin graft from inside the cheek. I certainly don't want the last of those, which apparently carries with it 2-3 weeks with a Foley catheter. That sounds worse than the prostatectomy itself. I'm hoping it just goes away.

Anybody else?

A few weeks after the foley was removed after my prostatectomy last august, my urine stream started to decrease and got progressively worse. Had scar tissue removed (day surgery)in October. Urologist has me doing a self catheter once a week to make sure urethra stays open. So far, so good. Also hoping the reconstructed urethra option won’t be necessary. Hang in there!

I too experienced the two stream issue along with my incontinence post prostate removal. Enough frequency that I discussed both issues at 2 month Appt. Was advised to let time and healing work, especially in the two to six month period. Two stream did gradually go away. Now at more than four months post, I cannot recall the last time two stream occurred. A reduced level of incontinence is still with me daily but much better than it was at 2 months. Of course we are each different. Let’s stay positive, and keep up the nutrition, rest and exercise that supports our bodies’ healing process!

I've noticed that when I have a weaker stream that I will often have the two stream thing happen. I think it just has to do with the structures at the very tip of the penis. That is, if those structures are more "firm" it will take more pressure to open them fully.
