If I had one wish……

It wouldn’t even be to get a fitting prosthetic or to walk without pain. It wouldn’t even be to be cured of urinary incontienence. It would be to get rid of these stomach issues. The vomiting. The horrible diarrhea. Not being able to eat much. Being scared to go out. Planning my day on wheather I have crapped at least twice before I go out. Only going out for short periods. It’s wearing on me……

Sounds reasonable to wish this way.
The stomach issue is newish. Nothing they can give you to get that in order?

Justej: Some ideas my friend: Have you been checked for Celiac's Disease (Gluten intolerance)? (Ref: University of Chicago website). How about lactose intolerance? Then FODMAP intolerance (Ref: Stanford University). I have all three. If my dietary restrictions are well-managed, I do ok, if not, miserable, and I go anemic, and it would be statistically life-shortening. Best Wishes! Please report back with what else you discover, and how you progress.

@may941 they are trying. The vomiting comes and goes, but the diarrhea is pretty constant. Pepto Bismol doesn’t help. I’m gonna call my gi doctor Monday to see if there is anything that can be done. We did find out that I had at one point acute colitis from being on so many antibiotics and that I have an “inflamed gut” but haven’t come up with. A good solution yet.

Hi George. I tested negative for celiac disease and I’m a vegan so I don’t drink dairy. I’m going to try to cut out coffee but that’s my last vice!

@justjcutting out coffee was very hard for me, but I haven't drank any in 6 years. I feel better-since I am not a good sleeper just a little caffeine early in the day is enough to throw off my sleep schedule. I drink stuff that is made from oats and stuff-Pero-not bad-I still put some designer half and half in it sometimes. I stay away from diary as well-I cheat with some cheese once in awhile and I eat yogurt. I don't get sick on yogurt. The protein that makes most people like myself get the runs is in milk and ice cream. Cheese is not good for us because of the fat and it creates inflammation in the body. But I love it. I eat more peanut butter. To bad we didn't know a lot of ths stuff we know today when we were younger. I would have lived my life different big time.

I just remembered i got a product on line called Banatrol for diarrhea for a family member who has some unknown gut inflammation. It said people with very severe issues could take it for diarrhea. A natural product
I've not asked family if it was used so I cant tell you result
Try googling Banatrol
It has excellent reviews
You can get on Amazon

I sure do wish that I could grant you your wish, ej.
I have found holistic health practitioners to be very helpful in treating many conditions.
I hope you get some help from your doc on Monday.

Wish we could make your wish come true!

I agree I wish we could grant your wish the best we can offer is our support and some prayers we are here to support each other

@justej Loperamide = Immodium, which is the only thing that stops my diarrhea. I take 2-3x the dose they recommend, at the advice of my PCP. The liquid works best and fastest but costs more money. Yes, you can get both the pills and liquid over the counter. If you buy the pills in the store, they come in impossibly difficult blister packs, so I recommend buying a big bottle of them on Amazon. Keep some of the liquid with you when you go out.

Say I have a diarrhea episode and can tell another isn’t far behind. I drink the liquid, then usually have one more episode, then it stops for the rest of the day. Such a relief! Kind of comes back with a vengeance the next day.

I recently had to do this at a buffet in Vegas. I passed what I thought was gas, but no, it was diarrhea. I got up and went in the bathroom, threw my panties away, but oh dear, discovered it was on my dress, too!!!!! I decided that since I had paid $85 for the meal, I was just going to enjoy it, right in front of everyone. When I finished eating, I had to walk a mile through Caesar’s Palace to get back to the parking lot, then I probably walked another mile through the crowded parking garage. I was amazingly nonchalant about the stain, because I know everyone on the planet has had an accidental shart. It was only 2” by 3”, so it could have been much worse.

I appreciate this forum for helping me feel comfortable with accidents happening. Guess I should always carry a jacket or sweater I can tie around my waist.

I can relate to a lot of what has been said on here. It was an embarrassing accident overnight followed by a day of big issues when I was on holiday(fortunately nothing too major in the grand schemes of thing) that made me vow to wear protection if/when my IBS flared up again.

I found that the following really contribute to my IBS (which can alternate between constipation and diarrhea) - eating bread, drinking a lot of coffee, lack of sleep, changing meal times and stress. Having changed that, combined with the osteopathy it isn't really an issue anymore.

Sometimes coping with this thing takes a lot of trial and error. It sounds like you're on the right track and when you have a plan (and it seems like you do!) then stick with it!!!
