How Long to Keep Doing Kegels

I’m now 16 weeks since my RP. I’ve been doing Kegels regularly since then and I’m now just about dry. I still wear a lightweight pad because I might have a small leak if I sneeze or lift something heavy but I’m pretty good. Drawing upon the experience of the members of this platform I was wondering how long I need to keep doing them for?

For the rest of your life.... perhaps to maintain good PFM strength you might choose to do Kegel exercises 3 times a week or twice a week . Think like a bodybuilder , the moment you stop bulding muscles you will lose muscle mass and strenght. Play it by the ear and tweak it as you go.

The recovery of continence does not have a defined rule since it depends on many factors such as age and the damage caused to the nerves and structures around the prostate during RP. In my case, my RP is 24 months old and has done Kegel regularly, however I still cannot achieve continence and I am evaluating an artificial sphincter. In this forum there have been testimonies of people who recover continence very quickly and some like me, who perhaps will not recover it completely.Continue doing Kegels and have faith.

As time goes by, once your own body's version of full strength of your PF is achieved, you need only do upkeep exercises...less than you used to, and maybe not even as tightly clenched as you use to, either.

I had my operation 2 1/2 years ago and still going through 2 -3 pads a day. I’m 80 and I’m sure I will be doing them for the rest of my life I do them 3 times a day.

Right or wrong 2 therapist's told me to stop as daily squeezing or keegling to hold the urine back will build me up the same as keegle excercising.
That's what I did, im 18 months past 65 and don't leak unless I forget to Keegle/squeeze when creating that stress in my body.
We all handle the process differently the tough part is deciding whats right for you.
