I stayed in hotels all over the world due to my job. One huge thing I found over 20 years, is that it seems to be a much bigger deal here in the USA than elsewhere. In Japan I was often left disposal bags, adult cleaning products, lotions etc. In Europe I can only compare it to a woman requesting a feminine product, nothing to be ashamed of, just a function of the human body, no big deal. As Wetdad mentioned, I would often find a larger waste can by day 2 if I was staying in town. Most of the nicer hotels already had some kind of mattress protection as humans don’t only leak pee, especially in hotels!
Over the years I began to hunt down unique and cool places to stay, such as King Louis’ estate to hold his concubine in Burgundy, France. In these places you were always treated like family!
If the house / hotel has been in the family that long I’m sure they’ve seen much worse, so the only discomfort or guilt you might feel is what you brought with you.
Sadly what I discovered a long time ago, that many still live with is guilt attributed to their “Health Issue”. I think we all know is there is a learning curve associated with incontinence, over time you just figure it out.. I compare it to learning how to drive. Yeah you might bump into a few things as you go, do the 20 turn parallel park in the city with 10 cars waiting behind you etc, but eventually you figure it out.
If we’re smart, we forget about all that stuff or eventually you’d scare yourself out of driving forever! Too bad there is no longer any “Courses” in incontinence here in the US, the insurance companies didn’t deem them profitable so off they went… In this case I was lucky as I did have a team that worked tirelessly to educate me as to how to adjust my life to my new underwear.
