My name is Joe and I've had moderate to severe urinary incontinence for many years. I had a lower disc extrusions and it all went downhill from there. At first I felt angry and isolated but slowly learned to live with it and with tremendous support from my wife. I
Did not know anyone else with my condition and needed to speak with other people who are going through what I am. Thankfully I found this support forum and I now know I am not alone. It is good to be here.

Thanks thudson1965, Its so awesome to be able to share and talk about lifes experiences, I look forward to being a helpful member and learning from other peoples experiences🙂

HI Joe, I was not incontinent until I made the decision to risk that, or a gory death from prostate cancer that might spread if I didn't do something like NOW. After they took the catheter out, which although not painful, still awkward. It did however allow me to wake up dry, not soaked. After a few days of that, I actually called the place that did the cystogram and took it out, and asked them if they would put it back. I may have a chance to reverse some or all of this incontinence, but it may not. I have to dodge a bullet that they may not have gotten all the cancer in the prostectomy two weeks ago, but I was petrified of having this operation, but I did it. If I have to have some radiation, I will do that too. This guy's grandchildren have already been told that If I go down, I am going down fighting. If a coyote gets caught in a leg trap, he chews his leg off to escape, and learns to hunt and survive with just 3 legs. This group appears to be a bunch of pretty tough minded guys, who have gotten past something I have dreaded for a year. I appreciate them all.

Hi Joe. When I was young I thought I was the only man in the world who wet himself and wore diapers. Clearly I’ve got lots of company. I have an underdeveloped urinary system. Sphincter won’t close. I have worn diapers my whole life. I like wearing a diaper. I’m comfortable, secure, and happy in my diaper. I like myself the way I am. I don’t want to be any other way. Welcome!

Thanks Jason, it is nice to be here. I see diapers as a daily tool to help us make life better and less stressful.🙂

Hi @LiveLifeJR, Welcome to our forum! I think you'll find this a highly positive experience as this place is chock-a-block full of wonderful people who know what you are experiencing with incontinence. We will offer plenty of advice as well as sympathetic ears for times when you feel uncertain about things, or even just to vent frustrations. This is like a big international family and no matter what your situation is that brought you here, somebody will know exactly what you mean and will offer to help you in any way we can.
But what you said right above is pretty much the ongoing philosophy here in which we use diapers (or pull-ups or pads, catheters or whatever) as a tool to help us make life more comfortable and to reduce the stresses and anxieties associated with dealing with incontinence. And we do take on stigmas about being incontinence head-on! Stigmas don't even have a chance around here as we confront them and specialize in encouragement!

Hi Joe. Welcome to the forum.

Your wife sounds like an amazing person who helped you get through the worst of it.

I hope you find what you need here as there are a lot of great people here with lots to offer support and advice and comfort.

Cheers.

Jason

What do you guys use to protect your skin in areas where certain items you never wore before tend to overflow and chafe?

Lots and lots of zinc oxide cream. This tends to protect you from needing anything stronger. I found a store brand that is not only inexpensive, but also quite effective.
