Flomax

Hello everyone. So, the time is here. The doc is prescribing me Flomax for BPH. I know I have made a topic about this same thing in the past. The doc said it would take a few months or so to totally take affect after starting the medication. Has there been any side affect from anyone taking this medication so I can be aware when taking the med. Thank you ahead of time for your answers.

I took it for about 6 months before my prostate was removed. Only side effect I noticed was no ejaculate during orgasm.

Would it be a good idea to double up on my diaper supply until I get used to the medication being that it relaxes the muscle? Have you had any issues with wetting more?

I have been on the generic, tamsulosin, for many years now. I have no unusual side effects; however, you must be aware that you are now at risk if you have cataract surgery in the future!

Be sure to tell the surgeon that you have taken this - even if you stopped years ago. It causes a complication called "floppy iris". The surgeon can compensate if they know about your taking this medication and they have the skill to do it.

I had cataract surgery with no problems, but I made sure that I had a very experienced surgeon who knew how to handle the issue.

Wow! Thank you for the important information for the future.

You are most welcome. Glad to be of help to you.

You may have already done this, but if not, I always Google every medicine that a doctor wants to prescribe for me.

This is one experience I had: I also have osteoporosis. The first thing my primary wanted me to take was Prolia. I told him I would research it and get back to him. Three months later, after talking to every doctor, nurse, and dentist that I frequent, and seeing an endocrenologist, and reading the horror stories on the Internet I said, "No" to any of the treatments on the market. The risks were too dangerous for me.

Yes I have done the research online. Just taking another step to see who out here has had side affects while taking the med. I also should mention that I am taking a diuretic pill for leg edema which I am doing therapy for also. I figure with the diuretic and flomax that I would have to double up on my supplies for a while starting this med. The doc said I could have episodes of leaking more than usual.

This reminded me that I've been taking Flowmax for years. I wonder if it might be involved in my urinary incontinence? Something to ask the Doc. The two could be working against each other!

I have been taking Tamulosin [Flomax] for over five years with no adverse side-effects.

I have OAB and must be well hydrated as I also am bowel incontinent. I found that Flomax helped me to go but did not increase the number of daytime urgencies or accidents. Of course, I am diapered 24/7.
