Diapers

How many of you tried any of the diapers made for the Adult Baby / Diaper Lover community? In my research and digging around on the Internet, I have found a bunch of companies that cater to that lifestyle that sell diapers. I was curious and ended up ordering a few bags from a few. One order came from a company that is located in Canada called Rearz. Another order came from the USA called Aww So Cute. The Rearz are an amazing diaper. They are thick and can hold a lot of wetting. They state that there diapers can hold 5000ml of liquid. They are pretty close to be spot on with what they say. They have taller leak guards. They are very comfortable to wear. Very spendy but well worth the money. Most of there diapers have cartoon prints all over them. The crinkle factor with the plstic outer shell is a little noisy.
With the Aww So Cute diapers, they are pretty much the same as the Rearz diapers. The price for these are cheaper. So, if you can handle the cartoon print on these diapers, I say give them a try.
I will be ordering from another company called tykables. I will let you know about these later.
For the most part I wear Tranquility ATN, Dry 24/7 and Abena.
What brand of diapers does everyone prefer to wear?

I agree that the Rearz diapers are outstanding. They are great for overnight and extended wear during the day.

I have worn the Rearz diapers as well, and find them excellent. Yes, a bit pricy but because of their absorbency you do not have to change as often. The AB/DL companies do have some great products. I have also ordered from Bambino and ABUniverse. Fortunately, These companies also provide an all white diaper. It's bad enough to need to wear a diaper let alone one with infantile prints on them. However, many box stores sell boxers and briefs with cartoon characters printed on them, so I guess it becomes a personal choice.

I'm 45 and have significant OAB with UUI and nocturnal enuresis for last 2 years. I am not into ABDL at all but I have tried almost every diaper that I can find and many of them are printed designs. All have had their advantages and disadvantages and some are more comfortable more capable and more discreet than others. For me it is form fit and function that is important. Mostly I wear Confidry 24/7s which my medical insurance thankfully provides. But honestly, the way I see it, It's nobody's business what my underwear looks like!

When I first read claims (in metrics) of new-on-the-market disposable diaper capacity, I was ever the skeptic. Close to 5000 ml ?? -- 5 liters ?? Yup. More than five (5) quarts. Well over a gallon of liquid measure. Think about the weight of that.

But my curiosity and desire to find a better product prodded me to see for myself. Indeed, these products really do perform as they claim and they do fill the need for those of us wetting heavily and often, day or night. Over active bladder, urge incontinence and neurogenic bladder conditions, etc.

Admittedly, I am more the type committed to the 'clinical appearing' padding which is void of pattern. A few samples sent to me have arrived with printed figures and yet they provide top notch protection. If you've ordered from REARZ, you know what I mean.

Over the years, it seems any 'color' that has been associated with my stash is in the form of diaper covers, aka plastic, vinyl or rubber pants. Clear or white and with shades of blue, gray or amber.

Oh yes, for a time, my choice was Molicare (around ten years ago) and those were purple.

I'll echo the thoughts of Vestalm -- I keep my protection private and basically over-engineered. No one is the wiser and it enables me to engage in just about any activity I want and for extended periods of time. Prepare for those worst case sitations and you'll not regret it.

Since I've lived with an incontinence condition for a number of years, I am now at a point where my definition of hope has been fulfilled. To me, it means I've returned to an active lifestyle where I can enjoy travel, socializing and engaging in daily activity much as before. I've run the course of medications only to find limited or no success in their use. With each there has come the high price involving side effects. I've resisted surgical intervention for my own personal reasons, though that route has not been presented to me in a long time.

Presently, I have no urinary retention. It has never really been a problem for me. I'm checked reguarly for that possibility, using ultrasound measuring equipment as part of regular visits to my urologist.

When people mention BOTOX to me, I relay what my uro-doc said: BOTOX might well cause a new and permanent issue involving urinary retention. That would mean I'd have to cath regularly. No thank you, way too uncomfortable and often painful.

Very Well put, Andy1050. I too keep my incontinence private. My wife, obviously knows as do a few close friends and relatives, but that's it. Unfortunately, due to prostate cancer I have had surgery along with about every type of test imaginable. I had incontinence issues before my prostatectomy combined with a bladder diverticulectomy, so the need to wear some type of protection was/is not a new phenomena. I have become comfortable with the fact that I need to wear a diaper. On occasion I have tried normal underwear, but met with poor results. I will not agree to any other kind of surgery, appliance, etc in the future. I'm 70 years old, and have decided I'm through with the prodding and poking "down under". I appreciate your comments as I too can lead an active fairly normal life managing as I do. Thank you.

There is a Canadian company that sells them online, mainly regular medical supplies, but they have started to add the ABDL stuff as of late. I have no problem with them, they actually have had a big contribution into a better diaper compared to what used to be available! Think back to the days of only Depends and Attends... so much selection now, and capacity and fit is actually shaped to the human body, not a square! www.agecomfort.com in Canada, and free shipping with a $50 order, easy when you buy by the case. I have only tried the Fab Sense City printed style, about as risky as I want to get, but nice to have some selection for sure! Watch for case sales, they come up often on Abena, and the Fab ones as well.

I guess the type of protection to use will vary according to the kind of incontinence and how it is managed. An accident left me with spinal injury and double incontinence. My incontinence is managed with a suprapubic catheter and bowel evacuation on alternate days by district nurses.

I started to wear an incontinence pad about three months after returning home from hospital, following some unfortunate accidents. Since then I have worn a pad all the time. These are available in many shapes and sizes and with different absorbencies. I wear Abri San Premium 6. These are for moderate to heavy incontinence with an absorbency of up to 1,600 ml. Lower numbers have less absorbency.

The pad is held in place by unisex net fixation knickers. They are similar to women's full-sided net briefs with no gussett. I rarely pass urine through my penis - occasionally just a small amount which is soaked up by the pad. I have faecal leakage only occasionally, most usually immediately after a bowel evacuation which has not fully emptied my bowel. I am not sure why I have been prescribed a relatively high absorbency pad but I have never questioned it as I feel it is better safe than sorry.

My pad is normally changed each day, as part of getting up. Carers give me bed bath every day. I sleep wearing only my knickers and pad. Lying on my back, washing starts with my face and proceeds downwards. My carers remove my knickers. They fold my pad back so that they can wash my scrotum and penis with Proshield, leaving the back of the pad underneath my bum. My foreskin is permanently rolled back. I am then turned onto my (right) side. The carers wash my back, bum and legs, using Proshield around my anus. A clean pad is placed on my bottom and pulled through my legs. My knickers are then replaced and I am partially dressed before being hoisted into my wheelchair.

I stick with North shore supremes or Abena M4's for daytime use.
I use thick cloth with plastic pants for overnight as this does the best in protecting clothing and sheets.

Hands down: Abena Abri-Form L4's for me, in my opinion. They are thick, absorbent, comfortable, and have very strong tape tabs. A close second for me would be the Tranquility ATN's, but their tapes are not as strong. The Abri-Form diapers take a bit of getting used to, since the standing leg-cuffs seem a little stiff at first, and the thickness of these diapers is especially evident in the crotch area. However, these are minor inconveniences that I have found that I have easily adjusted to over time. I find the Abena Abri-Form L4's I use to be very comfortable and more than suitable for daily use.

I have not tried any of the diapers with infantile prints on them, although I think that many of the designs are cute and interesting. However, my urge incontinence is a medical condition; and if I ever had to be admitted to hospital on an emergency basis, being found to be in a diaper with a nursery print on it would embarrass me more that I could stand. A major advantage of some of the nursery-print diapers made for diaper fetishests is that they have a very high capacity and perform very well. However, fortunately, there are also plain diapers that perform just as well, e.g. ComfiDry 24/7 and BetterDry. So I don’t need to wear a nursery print diaper to get the high capacity that I need.

I only use cloth diapers. I have cloth print diaper from rears works very well. I have few from Dependeco which are really good with 4 velcro fasteners. And I get some diapers from china Haian cloth diaper with velcro fasteners which I like very much. These are the ones I use mostly. I have others that are prefold from Changing Times Diaper Co. that are really good but are pin on but they really hold alot and soft gauze. I have tried disposable but find them to leak alot
To the person who worries about prints on diaper. After being rushed to emergency 4 times I don't worry about it. At 78 I just want what works best and do my own loundry.

Wow! I went to restock the other day and discovered that there were 51 various types of absorbable pads by a leading manufacturer in the same aisle for pads not diapers and more types were available for the store brand which costs less at a grocery store.
Pads need length, width, wings and a lot of maximum absorbency day or night without chafing or spotting through and without side leaks.

I'm not into trying a diaper with nursery prints on them. Honestly, I did try the all black diaper in the picture. If you have heavy loss of urine.... I would say it would work great at night..... but it was just way to bulky for my problems.

Where in the world did you order that box of diapers from!?

@Newtothis — I actually didn’t buy that set as a box. Rather, as I tried new diapers I saved one of each so that I wouldn’t later duplicate my efforts. That box is the resultant collection though more have since been added.

@Damp — When my issues began I tried everything I could to solve my own problem. That effort included trying every brand I could find. It was a very expensive venture but I did find many that worked for me along with the many that didn’t. By the time I finally consulted my doctor and eventually got referred to the urologist, I already knew exactly what I needed and was well stocked. I had also done tons of research and had tried all the brands on their (VA) formulary. The ones they initially provided me were woefully insufficient and after the second and third also fell well short I set up an in-person meeting with the urology pharmacist during which I brought along a huge bag with numerous brands & varieties and explained exactly why each one worked or didn’t. It was horrifically embarrassing but well worth the effort. After that they started a script for non-formulary to get the Confidry 24/7s.
