Diaper before and after colonoscopy

I was just wondering about wearing diapers before and after a colonoscopy. If you tell them you need diapers, will they put a diaper or pad on you after the procedure is done. My dr. knows I wear diapers for urinary and light bowel. I will bring my own diapers if they don't put one on me after the procedure. I'll just tell them I need it for urinary issues since I will be pretty well cleaned out bowel wise. Anyone have suggestions on what to do during prep or day of procedure.

Wish I could help you however I have not yet had a colonoscopy. I am sure other members here will be able to help you our and at least provide some guidance.

I have had 3 colonoscopies so far due to them finding cancerous polyps. I wear diapers for bladder issues and wore into the procedure. In recovery the tapes on the right side are torn for the procedure. My wife brings a spare diaper to me in recover and I change before I leave.
Glad to have them afterwards as you constantly feel you need to fart but it is not always so.

Hi,mhart, I've had a couple of colonoscopies so you can plan to be out of commission for just two days. The second day, or day of the procedure, is much better than the first. On the first day you will be on a clear liquid diet for all three meals. Nothing colored red, purple, brown, etc., since it could show up during the procedure. That pretty much limits you in itself. No gourmet far there!:D I know I quickly got tired of that diet; it got old really fast although it was just for one day! And don't plan to go anywhere when you start taking the medicine. You will be commuting back and forth to the bathroom. So you will need to stay completely at home. No dates or work appointments! It will be a long day! But the next day is much better. Try to get an appointment as early in the morning as possible so it can be over and done with. Have someone drive you there and back as you will be anesthetized and won't be able to drive. The nurses, etc. will talk you through the procedure. I was given propofol (the Michael Jackson medicine) and it wasn't bad. Just a quick nap and you're done. You will be able to go home and have lunch. Plan to stay home from work that day. You will have a lot of carbon dioxide "down there" and the nurse will encourage you to get rid of it. There is absolutely no discomfort or feeling that "something was in there" afterward. I hope that helps and I hope you'll be scheduled soon just to get it over with. When you wake up they will probably give you an idea what was found. But most likely you'll need to see the doctor for a follow up a few days later.
