Colonoscopy/endoscopy

So i get to have these two lovely procedures on monday (yay!) To try to figure out my bowel issues. Needless to say I am NOT thrilled. I had a colonoscopy done a lomg time ago in my 30s and they found nothing. I hate the possibility of going through bowel prep again but only to find nothing but here we go. This time i have diapers for my urinary problems but it doesnt make it easier. I dread tomorrow starting at 7pm....

Been there, done that, don't want the T-Shirt. They want me to get another one (been many years since last one) just because of my age. No way, unless something as serious as your issue. Got my finger's crossed for you.

Hey EJ,
Hang in there and prayers they get it figured out. The new prep stuff taste is not the best but easier than several years ago.
How are you making out? Getting around easier now I hope?

It’s good to hear from you!
Jim

Hey Jim! Im hanging in there. Finances suck but my cat and I have food so thats all that matters. And i wont need food tomorrow. Lol. Im able to walk a bit more but its getting cold!

Question for those that wore diapers for this procedure: how did you handle that?

@justej I'm supposed to have the same procedures in December (been waiting since freakin April) but anyways I have never had this particular procedure. I hope they are competent and find the problem. Let me know how it goes.

EJ,
Just let them know you wear protection. They will just slide it down, do the procedure while you are out and you’ll wake up like you had a nice nap. No worries. Their used to it.

The preparation is the worst part by far. The procedure itself is slightly uncomfortable but not anything to worry about.

Arent they supposed to put you under for an endo/colonoscopy?????

They kept me awake the whole time and it was HORRIBLE. The prep was a breeze compared to the test. Everyone I have told they kept me awake is in shock.

@justej I agree that it is horrible. When asked about sedation I stupidly said that I would be ok without. Fortunately, they had gas and air ready for the worst bits. Didn't they even offer you that option? If not, you are braver than me. Phil

Is there more than one type of endo/colonoscopy? I was awake both times, but to tell the truth, I don't know the difference between the two, if any. I was not offered the option, either. Some friends went though more "prep" than i did. Is that a clue that there is different kinds?
Now that i read this, I won't get one without asking what is going on and what the expectations are and where it comes on the "horrible scale".

I think they gave me something for the endoscopy part. But the experience was painful and kinda traumatic.
