Colonoscopy

I recently posted on some minor bowel incontinence that I have been experiencing. There is a time when I have a major issue, and that is colonoscopy prep time.

I have had two colonoscopies so far and the night of the preparation totally lost a huge watery bowel load in my sleep. Thank God this is the only time this happens.

The first time caught me off guard, the second time was better, but I still had inadequate protection. The doctor has told me since I have a "long" colon my preparation has been inadequate and this time I have to do double prep.

Needless to say I am concerned. Last time I put a pad on the bed, wore a pull up (Depends, I won't make that mistake again) and clothing over that.

I will do similar this time expect I hope to use a better pull up and a cover from Gary Wear.

Should I add a doubler/booster of some sort? I have no experience with these. Also I hear that tabbed products are better for bowel issues than pull ups, however I have tried a couple and had little luck with them. Perhaps because I didn't have the right size and or I didn't know how to put them on by myself.

I want to emphasize the volume involved, it's huge or at least seems that way. I do everything I can to empty out before bed, but it never seems to do any good.

Any suggestions you have will be appreciated.

This is dumb maybe, but I have put a towel and pillow, covers in the bathtub. I have nice long one and any problems do down the drain-just about-OF course I am up all night cleaning myself but that happens anyway. I keep the heat on to say warm. Less work in the morning and during the night. Cleaning up is not fun, let alone the problems.

@BarbaraDrabek Interesting idea, but I'm too tall to sleep like that, it sure would make clean up easier.

I'm dreading this.

DO NOT wear a pull up.
Get a QUALITY diaper like the Northshore megamax diaper!!!! Or the Dry 24/7 or Abena abriform L4 or something HEAVY DUTY!!

Agree with PBJ32. all the diapers he mentioned are going to serve you well. I cant wait until northshore comes out with megamax in XL

Update: My colonoscopy is now scheduled for July 2nd. I have to stop my blood thinner 4 days before and I have to have it done in a special center due to my many issues. Also I have to have "double prep" which means two straight days of laxatives instead of one.

I've been trying to figure out what I'm going to do for protection since I totally lost it the last two times and now with double prep I will have two nights to worry about.

North Shore was kind enough to send me a couple of Mega Max samples, but they just didn't quite fit. So plan B is going to try Abena Abri-Form XL4 with their Abri-San 11 booster. I was pushing the limit on the size of the Mega Max, according to Abena I should be comfortably in their fit range. Yes, I am very paranoid. I expect there to be a mess, I'm just hoping to contain it as best I can.

Abena also has a "Special" pad for bowel incontinence, which I'm going to try as well, not as absorbent as the Abri-San 11s, but designed especially for bowel incontinence.

My biggest concern is overnight, but I also do have issues during the day with the prep.

I still have never had any luck with putting tabbed diapers on myself. I'm sure size is the main issue, but I sure hope I can figure it out.

I am just very thankful that this is only every few years and not a regular occurrence. I suppose if it got that bad one would get an ostomy or some such.
