Clots still happening after 10 weeks

I had the laser ablation, and was told to expect clots for at least a month. I got scared because I knew I had to void because I could feel it in my urethra but it was not releasing. I then started having a physiological response that one has during intimacy. I thought it was weird, but then a clot released. My doctor's office told me it might take 3 or more months for all clots to stop. Has anyone else experienced clots this far out after surgery?

I had HOLEP surgery back in June with bleeding for a good six to seven weeks following. Bleeding has since abated, although I'm still experiencing other side effects such as urgency and decreased volume. While the laser surgery has made it easier to pee, I'm beginning to think many urologists downplay side effects in order to sell the procedure. From reading posts from others here who have undergone full prostrate removal, I am hopeful that my symptoms will improve over time, but my faith in most urologists has been seriously eroded.

Salvage radical prostatectomy 8/22. Bled every day with clots for 3 months. It has subsided but I’m still having bloody urine occasionally to this day. Improvement can be very slow.

Are these blood clots, or urine clots?

I’ve had 24 surgeries in the past seven years. ***No*** surgeons adequately prepare you for the suffering following any operation. I don’t think they have time. And maybe since they haven’t had the procedures themselves, they don’t exactly know what to say.

@MAM Sorry to hear you’re suffering. I wish you a more expeditious recovery. Blood clots can kill you, so maybe you should check with your doctor to make sure what’s happening is “normal.”

For my upcoming knee replacements, I was grateful when the hospital gave me a 1” thick binder with instructions and what to expect post-op. I’d rather know in advance than be trying to read all that material the day of the surgery. And that binder gives me wayyyyyyy more info than my doctor and his PA could even accomplish in a one-hour pre-op visit. I know, because I’ve had that one-hour visit already.

Maybe surgeons should give everyone a big pre-op packet before every surgery!!!
