I am seeking some advice. I am 4 months past my prostate removal surgery. In addition to in continence issues I am experiencing bowel urgency. I always feel as if I have to move my bowels. In the morning I am able to move my bowels after I drink my coffee however I continúe to experience bowel urgency throughout the day. Has anyone had this type of problem?

Yes, I have OAB and recently it has also became bowel urgency. My doctor has indicated that some medicine that I take for Diabetes Type 2 has that side effect, so I am learning to live with it. No fun! I would love to hear if anyone else has found a way to treat this.

I take Junuvia, Metaformin, Jariance and Repaglinide. The combination is not great regarding bowel urgency but it keeps me off Insulin. One has to pick their poison.

I had three surgeries for Diverticulitis and about 2 feet (60 CM) of colon removed. I found that Metamucil is my new best friend. It will help with the urgencies as well

I am writing asking for help. I am now able to move my bowels every morning however I am still experiencing the urge to move my bowels. It’s as if their is fecal matter further up. I have tried using enemas to help move any fecal matter that is still there. The enemas don’t work. The enema solution comes out clear with no fecal matter. My urologist who removed my prostate says that this issue is out of his area of expertise and that I should speak to my pcp. I am not sure as to what type of specialist I need. Any suggestions or advice. I will be forever grateful

Hi Ozzie, I would seek out a gastroenterologist if you are having Bowel Issues. Sounds as if you've been struggling with this for over 2 months now. Please get help on this. Since you are going, there is most likely not blockage. But, Blockage could be very serious health issue. I had two areas of my colon cut and re-sectioned. Because of this I have scar tissue which can create blockage. Have you ever had colon surgery? Are you taking any fiber supplements? Have you changed your diet? Did you have these issues prior to your prostate issue? Don't let this go without further testing. Good Luck

Thank you for the information. I had never heard of that particular specialist. I googled it and was glad that you had provided that information.
