10 weeks post RP

I’m new to the group and getting much knowledge so thanks everyone for sharing their experiences !
I’m 10 weeks post RP and still pretty incontinent. I’ve started PT (3 times) but still getting very frustrated on recovery. I meet my surgeon Oct 2 (first time after surgery) to discuss things.
I’m getting depressed not really wanting to go out to much or if I do for very short time - have tried Lungren clamp which is very uncomfortable for me
I guess my question is how long do you wait to discuss more options than PT ?
Medication ?
Bulking agents ?
Sling ?
AUS ?

Or is 10 weeks out just to soon ?
Any support would be helpful TY

Just to soon. Good idea to state age, age at RP, preexisting conditions. I’m 76.5, 70 at RP, rather impatient person but learning it takes time unless you can get a new washer for your leaky faucet.

Thanks Stryder
Ok I’m 70 and had RP this last July and am a pretty healthy person - and yea I’m a pretty impatient person too !
PS went to urgent care this weekend for a urinalysis:

Urge to pee n than 2/3 ounces come out
Red urine
Sweeting something
Smelly urine
Increased leakage
I thought for sure a UTI but they say no !
University of Chicago that did the RP wanted their own tests so I gave em some pee today n their saying if it comes back negative she’ll give me medicine for overactive bladder ?
Doesn’t sound right

Just checking in, how did the test go? Are you taking medicine for an overactive bladder? Also, it's been a few months since this post, has your incontinent condition changed? Best regards.

Been a while since I’ve posted
I’ve been taking Gemtesa to relive the “urge” which works pretty good !
It’s been 5 months yesterday since RP and probably 50% decrease in leakage.
5 worse months of my life !
Still 1/2pads a day depending how active I am. But starting to wear down on kegals and PT - looking into a new procedure that looks really good - actually talked to the surgeon Friday in Colorado on it on a zoom call
I’ll go 1 more month and review things - see my urologist tomorrow from university of Chicago
Thank you for asking
Best regards Ed

Thank you and the best of luck with whatever you elect as a next step. I'm almost 3 weeks out from my RP with BNS and 5 days from having the catheter out. The leakage is really depressing, but everyone tells me it will get better and to cool my jets. I have seen improvements, but it seems so slow when you're leaking every time you stand up. I'm trying to stay positive.

Hey there, I'm just 10 weeks post RARP and suffering from incontinence as well. I'm 64 and in great shape, but I'm told that doesn't matter. I have been doing the Kegel's pretty much every day one way or another and have also begun seeing a Physiotherapist a few weeks ago. I was a mess initially, but learning more how to control myself a little better each day. I think and hope the physio will help! But EVERYONE says you have to be patient! The magic number floats between 3 and 6 months, so I'm being as patient as possible. Also I use a penis clamp when going to the gym or standing on my feet for a long period of time, it works miracles! Both my Dr. and the Physio recommended it, amazing, but use sparingly as you want to heal naturally (feels like I'm cheating when using it, lol). Have my 3rd Physio appt tom'w afternoon and looking forward to more strategy and biofeedback.

You’re still very early in the recovery phase. The surgery is very traumatic on your bladder. It takes a while for the human body to heal. I am now five months out from RP and no longer incontinent. I started turning the tables at the fourth month. I really believe it takes Several months to recover.

I still do kagels and rest my perineum on a small rubber ball. Just be patient and let your body heal. I did try physical therapy, but found that my body needed to heal. Also I am a big fan of going to the gym and exercising. I used several of the exercise machines to strengthen my pelvic floor.

. Also, my Urologist, who performed the RP did not expect me to be continent at five months. He did tell me that the bladder needed a rebuild at the neck which led to my bladder experiencing PTSD.

Good luck on the healing process. I’m sure you will be fine.

One more thing. I did Nuro feedback, which I believe was very helpful in allowing me to be calm and relaxed.
