Wondering about leaking incontinence underwear

I have a feeling, though I think no one ever says, that if you have heavy urinary incontinence, you will have leaks. After all it's liquid and you're trying to catch it in a plastic bag with holes in it. For myself I found a style/brand of pull-up that works fairly well for light to moderate urinary incontinence. That is, I could stay on top of the situation and adjust or change at the right time or even make it to the toilet on time and just pee regular and make it through the day with only minor wetness on my pants. I know there are people who insist I could achieve much better but I always feel that taking the steps they take to not leak would make me feel so uncomfortable that the leaks are actually preferable. So I wonder, is leaking always to be expected when using pullups? I don't get drenched but at times enough that it shows. I haven't gotten caught. Now, lately, I've begun gushing. This makes the situation that much more difficult to manage but I still prefer using the pullups to being wrapped and layered. The feel of that makes me claustrophobic, way too hot, and spending too much time on undressing to cool off and relax. Is this just my own crazyness? Am I just not competent in preventing leaks? Are some people really comfortable being layered with protection? I have issues that rule out surgery. I don't think medications would be appropriate for me. Plus I just fear taking drugs. Another consideration is I also have fecal incontinence and that with the pull-ups I am using I manage very well. But have had trouble when using thick underwear that turned out disasterously. I feel good management of fecal is more important since at worst, urine will evaporate. Are there other people who do endure the leaks? Is leaking actually normal? Honestly, I just want to know that leaking is common or that I'm not doing a good job. Which do you think it is? Any thoughts...???

I use a gosupreme pull-up from North Shore Supply with a medium pad inside. I am able to change the pad often without changing the pull-up.

I need to keep cost down. I use Dignity Compose pull-ups with Total Dry Duo Booster Pads and replace pad up to 3 times in about 8 hours. No problems for about 4 hours. Then it becomes more difficult. I just found Tye Medical. Today is my first attempt with their pullups. Maybe about the same as Dignity. And more comfortable. Do you ever have leaks nwyenko?
