since being diagnosed?

I'm grateful that I can walk six miles with ease to go birding for an hour before breakfast and I've found amazing briefs for 70 cents each.

and of course that with good communication and compassion my partner and I manage to have a heathy sex life despite his unemployment and my incurable {on a medicare budget} neurogenic blasdder.

Congratulations on the six hours of exercising!
Well done! What is a neurogenic bladder? My greatest failure is F.I. (Fecal Incontinence). Am having this thick mucous pouring out of my Rectum. It goes down my inner thighs, all down my legs, into my socks & my feet feel wet. It's 1 of the worst sensations I have ever felt. Don't know what to do about it. Does anyone have suggestions as to what can be done about it? I am perplexed!

It's an on-going process, but surviving a head injury. I've also run a business- that was a lot of work, literally, and from a stress standpoint, it did almost break me... Now, though, if I could, I would start another business- working for others isn't always the better choice. I suppose that depends on the kind of person you are. The way things are now- because of the concussion- my stamina levels prevent me from doing it all again. The upside is that, I leave the job at work at the end of the day. I have to take a lot of breaks, so frequently, it takes me 6 or 7 hours to do a five hour shift. 8 hour shifts are a thing of the past. But, yeah- coming this far after the accident has been the biggest accomplishment.

@pegasi99 I'm sorry thats so hard to deal with.
My Father had similar fecal discharge.
His was side effecy from cancer treatmeny" I got him a bidet if nothing else it helped him clean up.

@pegasi99 I’m so sorry to hear about what you’re still experiencing. Have you seen a gastroenterologist specialist to check your bowels?

“Neurogenic bladder” means that one’s incontinence occurs because of damage to one’s nerves. For instance, I fell down a cliff while snowboarding, bouncing on my butt all the way down. Thus, I severed most of the nerves between my spine and my bladder. I did tremendous damage to my spine. So I have neurogenic bladder. Nothing helps it except painful and expensive Botox injections into the bladder. The symptoms include overactive bladder, painful bladder spasms, frequent urges, leaks, and in my case, “nocturia” - which means peeing a lot at night. A LOT! I also severed the nerve(s) between my bladder and my brain that tells my kidneys and bladder to stop working when I lay down horizontally. Instead, they go into overdrive, waking me up every 5 to 60 minutes.

It is being able to deal with my incontinence and have it not stop me. At first I was embarrassed to have to wear diapers and now I’m ok with it. It did take many years but now I’m okay with them. I still get embarrassed and uncomfortable when meeting people that don’t know

After initial stroke recovery, one may experience a neurogenic bladder. A neurogenic bladder is described as the loss of voluntary urinary control due to a central or peripheral nervous system disorder; resulting in an over-active or under-active bladder.

I had an AVM bleed that permanently borked both sensory and motor nerves. If I had private insurance I'd explore an Interstim implant but Medicare says as long as I can afford briefs I'm fine.

I LURVE Prevail gel core briefs. One lasts three days if I pee every 2 hours.

I dry used briefs in tub with silica gel cat litter. It refreshes the absorbency.

Doubt the manufacturer will endorse this but I'm poor.

@tripichick if finances are that tight you could choose something half the price of prevail, Sam's club are about $0.33 each in medium and are still good quality.. I would not encourage anyone to go 3 days with the same brief or reuse a dirty one, you might save money now but down the road you might end up with skin issues.

jeepers, sams club is a 2-hour bus ride with unmasked plague rats. My briefs get damp but as long as I get my poo in the potty they seem fine. I'm a tough stoic old Hippie with incurable neurogenic bladder post stroke. I think I know my body pretty well.

butt sex morning when birddude gets around to food.

Enjoy their nature pics:

A car hit me while I was cycling (and I wasn’t even on the road!). 10 days intubated, 2 weeks shock trauma, and 3 months in hospital while I regained the use of all of my appendages.

Thanks to phenomenal (though someone arrogant) surgeons, and the fact that I was blessed with very good insurance, you wouldn’t know I had gone through what I did (unless you asked me to run!).

I am very fortunate. My head hit the ground so hard that my helmet broke, but I was okay.

There was another young man I would see from time to time who had similar injuries, but inadequate insurance. It was sad to see how much slower his progress was.

Let’s get the same healthcare for all in this country. Every life is worth the same!

i think everyone should have the same basic medicare benefit. If you want more pay for concierge care. Let's figure out the most efficient way to give people the skills to care for their bodies, gratest good for the greatest number.
