Trying to find the most cost effective solution

So I’ve been punching numbers all morning trying to find the most cost effective solution to my incontinence. As y’all know I’ve been on a never ending search for what works for me.

The top 3 are: crinklz (yes I know that better dry is the same diaper but in white but I need an xl and better dry only comes in l.) Northshore supremes with a booster. Abena with a booster.

Abena is slightly cheaper but can still leak and has no elastic waistband. And crinklz and Northshore supremes with booster come about to the same. I’ve had the supremes leak a few times and the crinklz rarely leak.

I’m over the abdl print crap and I’ll keep some supremes with boosters for when I have to go to the hospital. It’s not been an easy decision and I wish it wasn’t one I had to make at all. Incontinence sucks.

With my insurance paying .88 cents a diaper it’s still going to cost me a pretty penny

it's a delicate balance good diapers aren't cheap and cheap diapers are garbage it's shame you have to go to Crinclz because better dry is the same diaper but doesn't have an xl and yes Incontinence sucks. But we are in this together and it sounds like you are coming to terms I am proud of you my friend

I imagine that many of us have to make the choice of what we can afford versus what works best.

Right now, I'm using cloth diapers at night. They work well for me, and save me money. But I like the convenience of a disposable product for daytime use. Life is full of compromises.

justej: I'll just bet you've researched all the options, but just in case? I had what may be a weird thought, for double-check. Here's a list: VA. Medicaid. Medicare. For prescriptions, some drug providers offer price breaks (I suspect based on income); do the diaper companies? Would that change if your doctor prescribed? Some Insurance companies will help you look for answers - some are too stupid and don't care. I've got the latter.
Heck, just some ideas for double-check. You've probably thought of more, too, I'm sure.
I'm applying at the VA to see if I'm even eligible for VA- I was never in a "war zone", but some people keep telling me my 8 years still count,so I'm going to check (once the VA clerk comes out of isolation!).
Spring has sprung, here. Hope you can get outside, anyway.
Stay Safe, guy.

Where do you buy your supplies? LLMedico Is the cheapest place that I have found for Abena oe Crinklz. They also have free shipping, And a 5% cash back reward.

If you've been seeing the VA for your incontinence issues they will cover everything. It must be well documented with urology and any other specialist they want you to see (usually neurology as well). It has no bearing on combat or if you were stateside.
Hopefully you have a good relationship with your primary specialist because they can request whatever you want and if everything doesn't go through then go to the closest VA hospital and speak with a "patient advocate" and that's the person that will get you what your requesting. Be prepared to go into embarrassing detail why you're requesting what you are and why. In my case after I met with the patient advocate I emailed a list of supplies and I haven't had any problems, if anything the VA will send way to many and in that case I donate to a few local senior facilities.

Good luck.

@CES97 sounds like good advice. Our system here is quite different, but we still have to go through embarrassing conversations to get anywhere. I've found that over the past few years my embarrassment levels have dropped. I hope that you are all well over there. It has been quite though here too, cheers Phil

Good news, CES97. Am in the application process, took some doings to find all my DD214s. That's okay - I finally purged some of my too-old/too-full file cabinet drawers!
Appreciate you donating. Our senior centers are shut down, except meals-on-wheels, at the moment, but staff just started returning, so maybe. There is a free table/exchange table. Things are probably piling up at home, maybe even at the center, now that someone can come out to pick up whatever is left at the door.

Seeing a urologist ? Gosh I have see 50 and not one helped me. Just one test over and over. The next doctor more tests. No wonder they all have 3 houses and I can’t pay for pads. We have to all petition our congressmen and demand help. I for one am sick of being ignored. How about you?

Sick indeed. The answer is Politics, unfortunately. So, I'm not going to get political, except to say that if you don't vote, you have no right to bitch (and I don't want to hear it)- except to your fellow citizens who (1) didn't vote or (2) who voted for the status quo.
Damn it, friends, people are dying right now because we elected people who put no priority on the medical system and didn't find it necessary to find the pocket change to keep the emergency stockpiles ready. Just remember, Congress voted themselves the best medical insurence in the country, and if they serve 5 years or more, it's for life. The teaching of Geriatrics has almost vanished, and who are pretty much the most vulnerable of our population?
Our issue gets little attention because it isn't lucrative enough for the doctors (and teaching & research facilities. I know I know, we get charged outrageous sums, but it is comparatively small to that of a orthopedic surgeon, say. Speaking from experience.) Even on this forum, how many of us aren't covered by insurance or sufficient insurance? Or can't deduct the co-pay from
their taxes, which aren't designed for us, just the ultra rich.
Sorry, I said I wouldn't get political. You must be used to me, by know. I have shot off my mouth, before. But the above is true.
For heavens sake, everyone, stay safe and God Bless.
