Tibial Nerve Stimulation

Good afternoon,
I previously posted asking for reviews on the Sacral Neuromodulation implant. Thank you all for your input!
I was very nervous about having the procedure done, and at this time, have declined.
My Urologist recommended becoming part of a study, utilizing the Tibial Nerve, and stimulation through a Stimrouter. I meet the requirements. I get the implant mid December. Wish me luck!
If anyone has any experience with this process, please let me know your thoughts!

It’s not covered by our health care.
So, they will implant along the tibial nerve in the research study.

What are these stuff you speak about. Please inform me about any solution that you know, because my doctors only told me about Botox:(
Thank you

In addition to drugs, there are options for nerve stimulation. Not all doctors offer stimulation so you may need to look around. One is PTNS - a small needle is placed in your ankle near to stimulate your tibial nerve. This is done in the doctor's office for 30 minutes every week for 12 weeks and then periodically after that. The other is sacral nerve stimulation where a surgeon implants a stimulator in your lower back to stimulate the sacral nerves of your spine. That's usually permanent but sometimes there are additional surgeries to replace the battery. Your doctor will need to do testing to see if you are a candidate and then you'll have to see what your insurance requires. There are many posts on both of these options elsewhere on this site. I wish you luck. This condition stinks and all options have pros and cons so you need to consider what is best for you.

Thanks for the input. Drugs have too many side affects. Unfortunately not an option for me. The sacral nerve is to invasive for me. In Canada, the tibial nerve implant is not covered. This is the option I am trying, under a research project. The tibial one you explained, is not covered completely, and would be an additional $3500 out of pocket, plus, I am 2 hrs from the hospital. And, I would have to go back weekly. The tibial implant I am trying involves me putting the battery charger on myself (tibial nerve) , three times weekly, to recharge the implant.

I had the Ptns tibial nerve procedure done, in the ankle. I went every week for 12 weeks. It did not work at all. What a hoax. I thought that might be the answer, but not. I also had botox and it didnt do much at all. I really don't feel there is much good help out there at all. I just the luck of the draw.
