Should I go for another surgery?

Hi Everyone,
I am bed wetting now more than ever. I wake up drenched and very very unhappy. I have had 2 surgeries to date, and I am wondering would another surgery help and its not worth it. It is wearing me out. I am 80 years old, so what are my options are this stage of my life. Someone please help me.

I believe I have had two sling surgeries, and neither worked. I can't tell you what I am considering because I don't know if there is anything new out there. It just that I am art my wits end now. What do I do.

I wouldn't have any surgery just to stop wetting. If there is another reason for the surgery and continence is just a plus go for it. I think there needs to be good reason for surgery and the older you get the better the reason needs to be.

I'm not sure if your journey started with removal of the prostate but if it did and you've tried everything else you might want to talk to your doc about an artificial urinary sphincter. Had the surgery to place the AUS a few months ago and I'm down to one light pad per day. This is not new technology. Its been in use successfully for many years.

Go...,
We all understand your dilemma, thinking there, but for the grace of God, go I. My own apprehension regarding post RP surgery has brought myself and partner, after five years of development and testing, to the final testing phase of our external aid that significantly impedes leakage. We are seeking another two volunteers for this last group that will offer us a collective assessment of our design. It is patent pending, but the path ahead is yet to be determined. Your contribution would be most welcome, should you choose to join this group. (see picture with my profile) Info is available, if you send a note to: amhelp@comcast.net Best wishes.

Goforgold, click on search on the left side of this page and enter Artificial Urinary Sphincter and you will find much information from others in this group. The AUS is the solution.

If this is primarily a night time issue. You could consider a external catheter. I would suggest the PUREWICK for men. As a nurse we use very often and they are very good. Hope this helps.

@goforgold Diapers and bedpads are your best friends for immediate use, if you’re not already using them. While they can make you feel emotionally uncomfortable at first, if you can think of them as a tool like eyeglasses, then you can learn to accept them and your bedtime anxiety will decrease. So will the amount of laundry you have to do!

Are you male or female?

Have you tried any of the oral medications for incontinence, or Botox injections? Those have dramatically improved my life.
