Real questions?

Discussion are ongoing about what to do next for care for myself. The doctors I saw down in Hershey Pa. feel that I need more tests to see what my issue is these tests should have been done before I got my Ostomy. Reverse the Ostomy means back to being bowel incontinent. This would also mean that I have to be back on medication to make me have bowel movements. The problem is that I don’t seem to have any other options available. This choice would allow doctors to get better information about what my condition is and how things are working. The issue is that if we do a reversal than I would have to recover before anything else happens and then do tests with the hope that it finds answers only to end up with another surgery to redo what was previously done or worse. The thing is that my doctor feels like this is the only way to determine if the total colectomy is the best option for me.

I think at this point I am going to reach out and get Botox done until my doctor has time to do something else.

Very sorry to hear all that you are going through. I know it’s hard to make decisions on what direction to go moving forward, just know that you have support on this forum and many people praying for positive outcomes. Hang in there and God Bless!

I think what I am hearing you say is the right thing to do for you is the reversal but you don't want to do it so you are using your doctors lack of time to leave things they way they are until you decide you want to follow the doctors advice. Sorry if that sounds harsh but isn't that what we are here for? I don't mean to offend and if I am wrong, I appologize.

@wyr13

No worries.

Current surgery doctor will not do anything unless gastroenterology signs off. Gastroenterologist can not see me until next year. I can’t wait that long to make a decision so I sought a second topinion. Second opinion said same thing. Now I have to talk surgery doctor into listening to advice from a different doctor in a different hospital or make my try to get a new gastroenterologist who will understand my case and get things done quickly. That is it. The reversal makes sense but doctor will not do anything about it until he gets approval from a team of doctors so I in limbo about either going back to new doctors hours away or trying to get my current doctors to do something now.

My apologies, that just sucks. I wish you well and hope you can resolve this dilemma sooner than later.
