Radical Prostatectomy, Prostate Radiation then Umbilical Hernia & Leaking

I was 55 when PSA went from 4 to 15. Then Radical Prostatectomy in Jan 2019 then Prostate Radiation Summer 2019 then Umbilical Hernia in Nov 2019. COVID came now doing PT exercises and still LEAKING. What's next - more surgery? Or bring a good supply of pads to get thru the day without leaking the work suits? What procedure has worked for you??

I can't believe that someone that was extremely very active has gone stagnate. PT has given some help since my muscles have gotten so weak. Walking doesn't help

If kegels don't work, they didn't for me, think about an AUS,
Artificial urinary sphincter. I couldn't deal with pads and
constant marination.
AUS gave me my life back.

larryw61 can you run, golf, bike and play contact sports (judo, softball, basketball etc) with an AUS? I am 3 months off the chemical treatment that came with last years radiation and have an Dr appointment this month. I hope my PSA is still 0 is my number 1 priority but will ask about the AUS procedure if I can become more active..

I'm 95% back to normal.i use half of a womans pad for coughs or sneezing. Then I get a couple of drips.
You have to drop trou to pee.No big deal.
I dont play contact sports but I ski, sail scuba dive. Biking is no
problem but my Dr wants to stay away from narrow road bike seats
He has agreat video on the Sloane Kettering site. His name is Sandhu
The surgery is n big deal,

larryw61, skiing, sailing and scuba diving sounds like a pretty active menu to me and it's good you're doing those. Keep it up! And I can see where narrow road bike seats could potentially be a problem however! That could put a lot of pressure on an already delicate area. But if you can get a more appropriate seat then biking can be on your list.

I'm not sure of why this forum is devoid of any AUS patients.
My docs are at NYU Langone and Memorial sloane Kettering .some of the nation's best.Sandau specializes in post prostatectomy incontinence.
He does 3 4 AUS operations a week

larryw61 Thanks for the AUS suggestion. I will discuss with my surgeon before reaching our to Dr Sandau. It is 21 months since the prostatectomy but my leakage really increased after the hernia surgery. How long did you have leakage before your doctor proposed the AUS and what was the recovery length? Also did Dr Sandsu perform your prostatectomy? I had my procedure at Columbia Presbyterian.

I only waited 6 mo.My leakage was severe and never showed any progress. I wasn't about to waste a year of my life doing Kegals.Look at Sandhu,s video on th MSK site

My PT did sound like she understood my issues with the leakage. A combination of diet (mainly sugars), Kegals and planks did help slow down the leakage. But leakage stills occurs with prolong sitting and coughing. I will continue the floor exercises until I talk to the surgeon to discuss the AUS.
