Since NAFC contains more information about incontinence only one side effect of Prostate Cancer, I am post links to other groups / websites that are helpful.

Please share your sites and groups that have provided you with information on Prostate Cancer Treatment and side effects.

Thank you,
Terry

There’s actually a very good interactive Facebook group. Search “Prostate Cancer Support Group”. You’d be surprised at how helpful and supportive this group is. Like all other social media sites, there’s lots of opinions. Personally, I think it’s a great group.

@Gitzet Please provide the link to the group - There are numerous Prostate Cancer Support Groups on Facebook. I only listed the ones that I am still a member.

Thank you,
Terry

Hope this works,

I joined the connect.mayoclinic.org
They have a prostate cancer group which is very good. I also joined their chronic pain group which has helped me.
Wishing everyone happiness

@Anxiety I could absolutely use a chronic pain group and a few others as well so thanks for linking to this Mayo wevsite!

@Snow. I hope it helps you as it has helped me to talk to others with similar issues. Wishing you happiness always

@thudson1965 Thank you for sharing these resources! NAFC definitely recognizes that there are so many other symptoms of having prostate cancer than just incontinence. We have been in talks about different resources we could add to our site to better support everyone dealing with this condition.

I'll maybe start a new thread for this, but are there specific tools/education/resources that you wish were available to you? We'd love to hear everyone's thoughts.

Thanks,
NAFC

Here are a few others…..

@NAFC

I started the post because someone asked questions about Prostate Cancer treatment. I feel that NAFC needs to continue focusing on incontinence not cancer treatment. There are many groups focused on Prostate Cancer and Prostate Cancer other side effects such as ED.

Prostate Cancer resources will have many more voices and experience than NAFC members.

Someone once asked in response to a post - Why would anyone with incontinence not use a better product than Depend briefs? My response was that most Prostate Cancer men with incontinence are moving toward being continent. Most but not all Prostate Cancer men will get dry in 3, 6, or 12 months. I had a very difficult time with incontinence. I was leaking 20 ounces a day at 12 months and had the male urethral sling surgery which fixed my problem.

This Forum really saved my life because at 2 months, I was ready to take my life because I could not image that I would be leaking 60 ounces a day. None of my friends or doctors understood. From other men's blogs about their experience with prostatectomy, they were only using 4 pads a day. I did not drink alcohol, smoke, and had lost 30 pounds. Hearing others stories of it taking longer to heal gave me hope. Hearing the stories of how people coped gave me options. Hearing from long term incontinence people about which products they used and how the products differ game me options. The options gave me the ability to sleep longer at night and to live my life.

The bottom line is that I donate and stay a member of NAFC because of the help in the specific area of incontinence. Prostate cancer forums recognize, but do not provide an open place to ask questions for extreme incontinence because 80% or more men do not have the problem and can not conceive of the need.

I’d also like to point out that the endless forums and websites about erectile disfunction are a much better resource for ED information than is this incontinence website. Maybe you guys should create a list of ED resources, too, and keep that thread active for newcomers.

Thanks thudson. I stay with the forum because I know that despair when I couldn't imagine living with incontinence.

Excellent to have multiple resources.
