Preventing UTIs and Catheter Blockages

I had a suprapubic catheter installed in May 2013 following an accident which left me with my neck broken at C4/5, spinal injury, incomplete paralysis below the chest, severe spasticity and double incontinence.
Between January and July 2016 I had 23 catheter blockages, all overnight, mostly between 11pm and 1am and accompanied by urinary tract infections (UTIs). Since then I have been able to prevent them by using these methods:
taking 1x50mg Nitrofurantoin for 30 days then gradually reducing it. Now I take only about 1x50mg per week.
re-positioning the catheter after going to bed to prevent it pressing against my bladder well.
A high liquid intake (at least 2 litres per day).
Consumption of lemon juice and vinegar on food.
Rolling of the catheter between my hands to loosen any sediment.
Weekly bladder wash-outs which also clean the catheter.
