Good morning!

Need some help. Am 3 weeks since my surgery and initially developed a damp contact rash, brutal, in my groin. Have been treating it religiously with quite good success. However in the last week I have developed a similar like rash on my back, chest, underarms and am itching constantly at one or more locations

Have been using OTC anti itch cream. …zone 10?I believe it is called.
Which provides quite temporary relief.

I have a zoom meeting with my surgeon Monday. It am hoping to find some palliative to get me through the weekend. Could the contact like dermatitis from my groin traveled?

Thank you 🙏 n advance any help will be appreciated

I had a severe rash begin under a bandage on my abdomen where my drain tube had been after surgery. Blisters developed into what was like a second degree burn. Eventually a rash developed over my entire thorax and onto extremities to some extent. Ended up going to an allergist. Never got a true answer as to the cause. Suspected it was a rash caused by the glue used over my incisions.

Long story short, it went away after a couple of weeks. Now for what worked to relieve the itching. Nothing. Used prescription medications both creams and pills. Nothing helped much. It just about drove me to my wits end before it resolved.

Good luck. I would like to know if you have better luck than I did.

OTC zinc oxide worked wonders for me for a rash developed from the pads... Prescription betamethazone for what was determined to be fungal flare up in hot weather....I am a year post, and have had all kinds of weird flare ups from the operation. Nothing serious but very irritating, Gets better over time.

Cannot thank you guys enough. This a good resource for prostate victims.

I had a thought after I texted you folks. Everything I read s@id the prostate associate dermatitis stayed pretty well confined to the pelvis…no travel.

Then it dawned on me: My loving daughter flew in to take care of and assist me for a few days after my procedure. God love her, she ended up deep cleaning my whole apartment (I told her I did not live like a caveman). But she prevailed and I am thankful for it. But I digress.

One of the things she did was notice I was almost out of laundry detergent so she bought some; a different brand and I thought “Eureka this could be it”. So at present I am re-washing all me bedding, towels, clothes etc. I have a feeling Tide Pods is the culprit. I’ll let you know.

Thank you again for your help Take Care.

Jesus, I look forward to hearing if it was the detergent. I break out with hives from some cleaning products. That started when I was in high school when my Mom decided to try out some cheap laundry detergent. We are unwittingly exposed to chemicals in our food and other consumed products. After a lifetime of exposure to low levels of irritants, out bodies can become hypersensitive and we develop autoimmune diseases like psoriasis. I am totally convinced of that in my case. I hope you find relief soon!

My husband reacts to Arm and Hammer detergent. Gold Bond products work good for me when I develop those rash thingies. I hope you will find some relief. My doctor prescribed a drug to help with my incontinence and it really seemed to help me have some bladder control. Guess what??? I am allergic to it, itchy rash and all. Rats!!!!

There is a NSAID - Non-Steriodal-Anti-Inflamatory-Drug (Ibuprophen is one) called Voltarin (brand name). It used to be prescription only. It started out as a gel, then there was a pill. Now, it is OTC.
The non-brand name is Diclofenac Sodium Topical Gel.
Weirdly, it in a "strong ammonia solution", and that is the last on the inactive ingredients list. You smell it for 1-2 minutes, then the smell is gone. It is absorbed quickly. The gel has the advantage over the oral form in that very little ends up in the blood stream, they claim & the Doc said.
I had it prescribed for nerve pain on hands and feet, but have occasion to go to lower leg as high as the knee, and the wrist.
I'd use it carefully on a test place, and on a relatively neutral location, first.
It may quiet the pain. Does for me. I don't get a rash, though.
I'd sure ask the doctor, anyway.
There are anti-itch lotions. I use Sarna Original. It's active ingredients are Camphor & Menthol, 0.5% each. Lot of other lotions with those in them, same percentages. If the pain/itch is bad enough, I mix it with Tiger Balm, which is the only anti-itch I know of (consistency of soft beeswax) which has a stronger percent - 12.5%.

Thank you all for your input and kind consideration. I am presently enjoying an itching free period. But it still lurks just beyond the curtain. I purchased OTC a Benadryl gel which worked wonders.

I will post the exact name later. Again, my sincere appreciation for all of your help.

The successful OTC products for me to calm my itching are
Extra Strength Benadryl itch stopping gel. Green and white tube, worked well to tamp down the itching.
Also to try and deal with moisture in the crotch as well as administer relief I found OTC this dry powder called “Phytoplex Anti fungal powder”. Which is Diphenhydramine Hydro chloride. Drys
out those pesky moist creases incompetence seems to create

For what is worth.
