Hello everyone, by way of introduction I developed urinary incontinence about eight years ago from a disease process (Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy) resulting in nerve damage and neurogenic bladder. I started out with infrequent day time accidents which became more and more frequent. Eventually I had to accept the use of diapers 24/7. I am primarily urinary incontinent, but also experience occasional bouts of fecal incontinence as well. I came to this site to see how others deal with their incontinence, professionally, socially, with family, etc., and to give and receive tips on products, techniques, problems and solutions.

Hello Fred, it sounds like you have been dealing with this for quite some time. I have found it's best to be upfront with everyone about my incontinence, and treat it as any disease might be. I try to be private but sometimes a telltale leak or smell might give way to questions, then it's just owning up to it.
I have found that the same old techniques work as in limiting how much you drink, but staying hydrated. Change often to avoid rashes, as well as use powders and barrier creams for extended diaper use. And always speak to your Dr about any issue you have. Aside from you loved ones or partners they will know you the best, and always look out for ways to make your everyday living more convenient.
Good luck and hopefully it isn't permanent for you.
