looking for additional protection

i think i’ve seen someone here once mentioned, but i can’t find now, a brand of pullups that are thin. so maybe that brand is what i am looking for.

basically, what i want is pullups that have very full coverage in the rear. some brands are made out of 2 pieces (like molicare mobile) and as a result there is an area at a crucial area in the rear/sides that is left unprotected. it makes them kind of uncomfortable and not so good for the fecal incontinent. other brands are made from only one piece and are cut to cover the entire rear. but those brands though most likely covering the rear adequately, are often thickly padded.

i think that i would like to find pullups that have a thin padding. thickness is not really that good for or necessary for fecal incontinence and if i can find something like that with full coverage in the rear, thin and a snug fit but still roomy between the legs, this will work for the type of protection i need.

so, i’m asking and hoping someone has a good suggestion. and also, i’ve never been able to find free samples or even low priced samples so hopefully someone knows about that too.

then once i find what i believe will work for me, i’ll be back to report about how my idea works.

•full coverage in the rear
•thin padding
•made for fecal incontinence
•and good size range. for me, small is sometimes too small and medium is sometims too large

so thanks for your help!!!

Not sure where you buy your products from but many suppliers will be willing to send free samples if you ask. Most pullups aren't designed to handle fecal incontinence so not sure about that side of it. I find pullups to not be too effective in dealing with my urinary issues in terms of tape on products I've found Molicare and Tranquility to be good in terms of absorbency while still being fairly thin so that might work for you if that is something you want to look into.

never found free samples. what i have found is usually pretty expensive for sampes like 3 dollars each. if you know a place, please let me know. i’ve found a way to make pullups work. i’ve posted it elsewhere here. pullups are what i use and have enough success that i’m satisfied. moli is ok but they are not comfortable for me cause they are skimpy in the back. that is moli mobile btw. i haven’t tried the other styles. do you know what they’re like? tranquility is too thick, those ive tried. people think i’m crazy for using pullups because they don’t like them. for me that is my solution to my problems. i do appreciate you help. thanks.

That makes sense. Each of our issues are different and how to best manage them can vary from person to person. When I am in a situation where pullups are the best option I use Abena's but I'm not sure their is enough material to work for fecal incontinence. Where do you buy supplies from? I've found just sending a message to them or calling them often they will be willing to offer some samples or can possibly give you advice on products that might work the best for you.

I've been using Allegro and Vitality. I guess I'll try calling them and see if I can get samples. It may be that the pull ups I'm already using are the best. Dignity Compose or Compose Dignity - which way I forget. There is plenty of material in back. They are kind of thin. They feel good and I feel secure. I have never had a bad fecal situation with them in about two years since I started with them. I place an unfolded wipe inside and that prevents the pull-up from getting soiled. At work it's easily cleaned up and then i add a booster pad for excess urine.. I do have to pay attention in order to avoid leaks. It is not a perfect system. Im still surprised that the fecal part is easier than the urinary. And as I keep saying, I just can't be super bundled up. I'd just go crazy.

now you are using terminology that i don’t understand. do you know of a specific brand like that? how could someone come across something like that? just hearing it makes it sound like the way to go. so i do hope to hear more about it. please tell.

An internal standing leak guard are pieces of cloth on either side that stand up to help contain any overflow. Abena are what I use in situations when a pull up is the best option

I agree with others here that a tape on style diaper is way better for containing fecal incontinence. However, for my somewhat light urinary incontinence I use Abena abriflex pull-ups at work under a uniform, they’re absorbent, durable, and discreet. At home I prefer a regular diaper. You may give them a try and see how they work for your FI.

i must insist on making it clear that for fecal incontinence using a pullup the way i do works. it does work. i do not need to be wrapped up. i hate that. pullups contain what needs to be contained until i can change. i do not wish to be in contact with that stuff for long so as soon as i can - usually within one hour or so, i clean up and am done with it.

i also hate the term diaper. to me, “diaper” is a self harm way of referring to incontinence underwear. i wear protection for incontinence. as i see it, diaper is what i used on my kids before they learded how to control. that is what i did when i was a baby too. when i grew up and unfortunately became incontinent did not go back to being a baby. i am an adult with incontinence and i use protective underwear. just words i know but that is how i feel and must insist for myself that this is the way i need to be.

i do not wear any protection at home. maybe my home is tiny and its unnecessary to wear protection. i don’t know about anyone elses living situation. i do not leave a trail behind me. if anything would happen i’d clean it up. i may use paper along the trip to the bathroom or rarely use a small pad to get to the br, but i don’t wear incon underwear at home. that too is how i must be. what i want for FI is a light weight very full rear coverage pullup that is good for using my method of incontinence management. what i use now is good enough but i’m hoping to find better in a pullup.

I wear "Depend Silhouette Active Fit Incontinence (IBS/D) Underwear for Women, Moderate Absorbency, S/M", and I order them from Amazon. Info: Depend Silhouette Active Fit moderate absorbency incontinence briefs with a thin design for complete comfort
Same trusted protection with a smooth, sleek fit that is yoga pants approved ; Absorbent Adult Diapers ; Directions for Use: Step in. Slip off. Printed tag indicates the back. Dispose of in trash can - do not flush.
Disposable underwear with premium cotton-like fabric that features flex grooves for stretch and breathability
Depend Silhouette Active Fit briefs come in sizes small/medium (28–40-in. waist) and large/extra-large (38–50-in. waist), are FSA-eligible in the US only and are shipped discreetly in a plain corrugated box.

They come in Black, off-White, and Lavender. I wear size 14 jeans and I order a S/M size. I also wear a 1 piece minimizer that I order from Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/Bali-Womens-Shapewear-Smooth-Briefer/dp/B0064YY0DE I wear this when I go out and I take the typical diarrhea prescript meds before I leave the house. The minimizer snaps in the crotch, so you have to "have your act pulled together" to get it open in time. When I am not going out, I wear the "underwear" with jeans. I have tried the others and these "Depends" work the best for me. CVS has smaller packs on the shelf. I am not pushing the above items, but I have had several IBS/D for over 40 years due to "Bad Dr child delivery". IBS/D has controlled my life for too many years! Next week, I have the "trial" week for "Interstim Bowel Incontinence", so I am probably one of the "elderly few" to try this....sc

I'm guessing that basically, the men's version would be the same as the women's structurewise. But they'd give it a masculine name like (who knows maybe stealth!) Just kidding.

But what I want to know is do they have the inner leg cuffs? The little barrier wall that goes around the leg opening to hold back any pee that is not immediately absorbed into the lining.

I do like the idea of the undergarment being smooth and not showing through my pants. I always feel like as discreet as they say and as they seem, it's really blatently clear I have incontinence underwear on.

so I'd give the depend silhouettes a try if they do have that inner cuff. So please let me know.

Personally I've tried the version for men when my issues weren't as bad. They definitely don't have the inner cuff and are very prone to leaks at least in my experiment. Abena is what I would suggest you try

Concerning depends, etc...I was in the hospital a few days due to the flu. The beds were full, so I was stuck in ER. The "depends" that you get in the hospital are horrible! They were a large rectangle with padding about 8 inches wide going the 15 inch length; they were about 8 inches wide, and they had 4 sets of tabs on both side. This hospital incident was the first time in ages that I did not go prepared with my supply bag. IBS/D and a potty chair do not go very well being stuck in ER for 4 days. Lesson being, always go prepared...sc

I'm still fairly well stocked. But there's so much good I hear about the abena, I will give them a try. Probably won't order for a couple weeks. In the mean time if anyone knows where to get free samples of them, please let me know. And also, I see there are several varieties of abena. Is there a thin one (w/inner cuffs)?

And who knows, I could end up in the ER again. Lately I've been getting more incontinent so I will keep in mind being prepared. Thanks for the advice.

The Abri-Flex is the their pull up and then the letter is the size and the number the absorbency level I use the M3 I can't give any information about the lower absorbency levels

So I'm here to report that my own personal methods of protection have been working very well for me. I also got some abena. I ordered small and they are almost too small but I felt like the medium was more likely to be too large. They do work really well but I would prefer them to be thinner. There is a place where one must make a trade off. And I have to go with thinner/ more comfortable for me but more risk of a leak. Than safely bundled but hot and uncomfortable.
