Leakage Particular Worse after urinating? extended Post Void Dribble

Hi I have been diagnosed with urinary retention and I have small drips of urine every 5 minutes.

Yet notice my problem in terms of volume and frequency is at its worst after I urinate. Even as long as 10 minutes later I am still leaking a larger volume.

After I urinate I really need to go through all whole process - of towel drying off to get every last bit of urine out - and then using a hair dryer - to make sure there's no leakage on my clothes

Question - Do have a similar experience - where you find your leaking can be at it's worst right after you urinate?

I generally will have small spurts as I shift in my seat working, stand, or strain. Occasionally, if sitting too long enough pressure will build to flood when I stand. These are all dealt with easily with my diaper. The part that frustrates is when use the toilet, especially sitting, I will finish business, sit for a minute and make sure. When I stand, invariably, I will gush and usually on the back of my pants or floor. My wife really gets upset if I don't catch it and clean it up. As I wash my hands I can feel it continue to trickle for 2-3 min.

I do have that same problem. I will cath after I'm done peeing to avoid it. It does work

Women can have this problem too! I can sit down to pee. Wipe. Stand up. Get the feeling that I have to go again. Sit back down. Pee some more! This especially happens when first getting up in the morning. Don't know why your wife gets so mad though. Is it something you can really help? Does she have any medical conditions of her own?

sorry she just gets mad if I do not clean it up. Sometimes I feel like yep we are good to go. If I look back there might be a small puddle ;( She just hates cleaning.

The "after" drip could be a misfunctioning gate valve at the bottom of the bladder. After voiding, if I sit 5-10 minutes AND...stand up, there will be 1-2 tablespoons of urine. I finally decided that: the kidneys are processing all the time and the "after-thought" puddle is a release of the kidneys that go straight through the bladder.

There is a gate at the bottom of the bladder that opens and closes. If, after voiding, the gate does not immediately close, the normal production of the kidneys will not stop in the bladder, but move down to the urethra. The urethra will hold a small amount of urine...enough to make an annoying puddle or an annoying "wet" in the underwear. If I am wrong about this, I would like to know it. Perhaps the bladder gate is closing, but is hyper-sensitive and reopens when the kidneys make another "contribution." ?????

I have BPH, this was my first symptom before I knew my issue. I used to leak right after urinating. Now it's right after and intermittently through the day. It's definitely getting worse over time but relatively slowly.

@dougsbc Sounds like this could be a good solution for @mustangmike1971 too.

@mustangmike1961 Have you had your BPH level checked? Have you tried cathing right after you pee?
