Hi, what should I be feeling when doing the Kegel exercise correctly, I am two weeks post surgery and three days without a catheter I noticed walking is recommended. Any advice would be greatly appreciated
The key is to take deep breath hold for a few seconds and then exhale. As you exhale pull up your anal area as if you are making sure nothing is coming out and hold few seconds and then exhale all the way and repeat. It is important not to use your Buttocks but to feel deep in your anal and penile areas pull up and hold. This could be done anytime sitting maybe with a rolled towel between your legs or lying down on your side with one leg bent gently on top of the other and a pillow between your legs. As you practice it will become easier and more predictable.
If you need help in exercising and recovering, I urge you to go to a physical therapist who specializes in pelvic floor and incontinence training. Only 3 visits helped me tremendously.
