Incontinence After Prostate Ablation

Has anyone become incontinent after undergoing a simple prostat4 ablation to relieve BPH? If yes, were you told incontinence would be a side effect of this procedure?

I don’t believe there is any real data that supports what actually happens after any surgery or procedures whether it’s RP, radiation, TUNA, TURP, TUIP, etc. that involve the male urinary system. There are many factors such as age, weight, preexisting conditions, etc. that influence what you might experience when it comes to incontinence. Doctors will give you what what has been statistically documented. But research is limited. What matters is where you are at this moment and what you can do to improve your situation. That means doing kegels (correctly), finding a good PELVIC FLOOR physical therapist, doing what they recommend, diet and weight loss. It won’t happen in a week. You need patience and persistence. Even then you might not gain total continence again. Good luck and stay positive.
