Does sleeping position make a difference

I am a side sleeper because I have sleep apnea and I can't sleep on my back so I have to sleep on my side or stomach. I use to get erections in the early morning but don't get them anymore. I'm not sure what the cause is. I have had 2 isolated occurrences with about 1 month between each occurrence. No change in diet and no medications.

I dont know if you are able but i find if i fall asleep in a recliner chair tilted i can get through 7 or 8 hours with no incontinence.
I am a side sleeper and prefer it even with unfortunate consequences

May may,
If you like recliners (I love them)...we bought a set of zero gravity chairs for the porch that are amazing. Check Amazon😊
We lent our recliner to a friend so she had a comfy chair after hip replacement and these are a good second for sure. ( and they fold up)

Hi Huey,
Maybe sometimes your body is making more urine at night when you are laying down? Or maybe there are times you get into a really deep sleep state and you don’t wake up when your bladder says hey, we’ve gotta go?
Just wondering, most of the time I sleep, I may get up one in a while to raid the fridge😊 but otherwise I don’t get the signals at night at least that I have to go. I just wake up and poof wet diaper or whatever.
Hope you can come up with an explanation and solution. I know for me, as I’ve gotten older things with my bladder have changed. Still working with urologists to find a solution.
Good to hear from you😊
Kind regards,
Jim

Hey Jim good to hear from you and thanks for the brainstorm of a possible cause. I think you might be right AND your ideas are better than anything I have gotten out of the so called professionals where I live. And I like you have noticed the older I get my bladder is changing as well.

Thanks Huey, I learned from one of my doctors a while ago that my ankles were a little swollen and he suggested trying compression stockings. As it turned out they actually make my legs feel pretty good and I have had less issues with neuropathy and hardly any swelling. I read that sometimes the valves in our legs sometimes don’t always want to work right so fluid can build up. What I also noticed was because my body wasn’t making urine from all that excess fluid in my legs when I wore the compression stockings, I had less urine production at night. Seems like a plus to me.
Anyway, if you are ever in Maryland, Chesapeake Urology has some compassionate folks that may be able to help. I have a couple more doctors there I am going to see next month to see what my options are but they were really wonderful and I felt completely comfortable once I met the staff.
The gentleman who initially saw me seemed genuinely caring and listened to me, checked me out and did an ultrasound, prostate check, etc. the ultrasound showed that when I void my bladder was full again shortly afterward so it wasn’t emptying entirely. Explains a lot. He suggested I see two of the other doctors in their staff that are specialists so in a few weeks I will know more. My hopes is I can at least lessen the leaks. I’m just tired of living with it. I’m sure most of us are.
Hope you have a great evening. Sorry for rambling so much.
Jim

Jim thanks for the information. It shed some light on some things. I have nonstop leakage too and I am definitely sick of it but I am more sick of the incompetence of texas hospitals and doctors. And I don't view it rambling. Thanks buddy.

Thank you Jim. I want to tey the compression socks too. I. Summer my flow is so heavy at night and i dont know if my legs swell but sometimes my ankles and feet appear to.

I just went to a medical supply place and got the standard compression knee high socks. That is what the nurse there recommended to try first. Shouldn’t wear them to bed, just during the day. But my legs feel better for sure. Get the Jobst Compression stockings. The standard ones go by your shoe size. Maybe check amazon and find a reasonable price. They do last a long time so that’s a huge plus. Hope that helps.

I use the compression socks too. They work wonders. At night I try to sleep with my feet elevated, but it's not so easy. I am a pretty restless sleeper.
