Somehow Igor COVID again, I had it in February of 2020 before the hospitals knew what to do. I was the 2nd person of my county in Ohio of 250,000 my luck. The coughing once again and struggling to breathe sucks! I have MS and just started my infusions so I have no immune system….. with the cough as bad as last time and shortness of breath hope I don’t end up in the hospital!! I got a pretty bad diaper rash as well the goos thing is I lost smell also, I hate the smell of Desitin so that helps at least, LOL. I get out of breath changing, I just hope all goes well get that new medicine they are using and heal up. Sorry for the pity post, but I am actually worried…this time not having an immune system.

Wife & I (74) just have struggled with 19 days of it for first time and still symptomatic. Went to hospital 2.5 weeks ago with 103.8 and they sent us home with “take Tylenol or ibuprofen” - thanks as we already had been taking high doses ibuprofen without any results. Asked for Paxlovid and they said no because we take statins. I was too sick to think of asking how long statin stayed in blood (found out only 20 hours and I had already been off almost 3 days. They messed up and after YELP & emails 10 days later they agreed they dropped the ball. But meds only work within 5 days of onset so go to hospital immediately. BTW sphincter muscle, just as rest of body, was impaired, so went from every 3 hours to less than 2. More leaking.

Wayne,

I'm so SORRY to hear of this diagnosis! I too have COVID at the moment, but I did get on Paxlovid by day 3 after my positive test. I was very willing to stop my Simvastatin for the duration. Now, I'm just super tired and can't stay up for very long.

As for you, I'm send sincere wishes for a good recovery from this. And hopes that you can see someone and get Paxlovid or some other help. Do take care of yourself!

Marcia

May God bless all who are suffering with COVID and may he grant you fast recovery!

At age 75, my wife and I have not had it yet. Praise God! We are fully vaccinated, but we know others who are getting sick anyway. With my health issues it would be a tough row to hoe.

Thanks for the info about statins and Paxlovid; I was not aware of this. I have taken various statins longer than I can remember.

Update, I did get paxlovid as my MS, Dr said it was crucial as the first time I had it, lasted 8.5 weeks. I lost 20% lung function and heart damage. My fever was running mostly 102.9 and would come down with Tylenol. I took third dose of paxlovid, it seems mostly after 3rd day it really improves. My cough is still really bad and fever running 100 with Tylenol or not. I am thinking I should go get checked out for pneumonia though.

In my opinion, a fever of 100 deserves to be seen by a doctor, especially if you are concerned you may have pneumonia.

I made it through, still using my inhaler and I get winded easy, but o survived!! Those first couple days, I was scared! My MS neurologist presented plaxovid I believe was the name of the COVID medication. So moving on once again!!! Thanks everyone for your positive thoughts and prayers!!

@Wbwayne11 Hope you're on the mend! Sorry to hear it was worse the second time. It's one heck of a nasty virus that's for sure.
