Cloth diaper stuffer?

Has anyone ever used cloth baby diapers in their diapers as a stuffer?
We found a couple dozen cheap at a local thrift store, my wife suggested using them as stuffers. I am not sure how I will attach them or if they are bother even using.

What else does everyone use for added absorbency when wearing cloth and plastic pants?

Thanks,
John

North Shore Boosters. Call and ask them to recommend a size and to send samples. They work well in disposable diapers, but I don't know about clothh ones.

I do that too when I’m out of doubles and they work great. Just Ford them in thirds and lay in the brief. I sleep on my side so they work great across the front to prevent side leaks.

MarineJohn... Are you going to use them in the daytime, nighttime, or both? I mainly only use cloth diapers at night, but I have used them as stuffers several times. For night use, you really don't have to attach them to your cloth diaper, just layer them down the center of the diaper. If you're in bed, the stuffer diapers won't shift around inside your adult diaper. (At least that's been my experience.)

In the daytime, I guess it would depend on your level of activity. I mean if you were running a marathon, I suppose they could slip down into the crotch area, gravity being what it is... It would also probably depend on how tightly your diaper was fastened. If it was loose, more chance of slippage.

I've kind of gotten away from using cloth baby diapers as stuffers. I've been using the cloth diaper inserts from AdultClothDiaper.com. I find it easier to put one or two of these inserts in my cloth diaper than to layer several smaller diapers down the center. Whatever works best for you!!

Marine john, After i posted, I realized that disposable booster pads were not what you were looking for. Sorry, and thanks for understanding.

@MikeD9876 I am looking to use both day and night on my days off. I have both pin on style and the ones with plastic snaps for adjustment from Rearz. Definitely not running any marathons but do walk quite bit as my wife an I enjoy traveling to the mountains and coast.

In light of this topic, I actually wore a cloth diaper with a smaller stuffer diaper inside it, when I went shopping this afternoon. It's easier to wear cloth diapers in the daytime in the winter, it's easier to conceal the dreaded "Diaper Bulge" with sweaters and longer coats. And saving some money on disposable diapers for a while helps the budget too.

Anyway, after walking through several stores and getting in and out of the car many times, the diaper combo worked pretty good. The stuffer diaper stayed in place, even after becoming wet. Again, I wasn't running or doing gymnastics, but I think for the average person, using cloth diaper stuffers should not be a problem, as long as your adult diaper and plastic pants fit properly under your clothes.

You're better off using disposable boosters in cloth diapers, than cloth boosters in disposables. Personally I think disposable is the way to go for both since any savings you gain from reusables is wasted on water, detergent, and energy for the dryer, plus wear and tear on the washing machines and the fact you still eventually have to replace reusables. People like to point out that diapers are bad for landfills, except almost all of a diaper is biodegradable, except for the thin plastic liner, but even that will break down over the years.

When my cloth diapers get frayed and ready to become trash, that’s when they become boosters. I get as much mileage out of a cloth diaper as I can.

@MarineJohn I used cloth stuffers every night in my disposable diaper. It has virtually eliminated leaks even though I'm a side sleeper and I don't even have to use a premium diaper since the cloth booster does such a good job. Actually the "boosters" I use are WalMart "Flour Sack Towels" (10 for $8) which are really just thin 100% cotton cloths that are 28" square. I fold them into a 12 layer pad and just lay them in my nighttime diaper. I've never needed more than one but you could always add another if needed. I do wear a PUL plastic pant over everything just for insurance but I've never gotten more than a drop on it a time or two. In the morning I give the cloth pad a quick rinse in the sink and hang to dry, then into the regular laundry.

You can check out my pictures. I use a cloth changing times gauze prefold with 3 baby diaper prefolds as stuffers. I usually wet more than once at night and need the extra absorbency. The baby diapers are just inside and don’t need anything to hold them in place.

I also use a cloth booster inside a disposable, and it has taken care of leaks very effectively. I use a disposable booster if I need one during the day.
