Best Durable Mattress Protector

Hello,

I have had night time issues since childhood. I have tried it all as far as solutions go and nothing has worked. My current method of dealing with the mess is honestly just to have a mattress protector and wash my sheets. Pull ups and diapers just aren't personally an option for me. However, I have spent thousands on new protectors and every single time it seems they always break down within a few months. So much I bought a carpet cleaner to shampoo my mattress with. What is a good mattress protector? It obv has to be waterproof, but it can't be crunchy or make the bed too hot or my husband might make a bigger wet spot than I do :(|)

I'm curious also.
Ok had to a quality one of that zipped over my mattress but it allowed urine to penetrate to the mattress.
So I cut it off and be soaked the area of mattress with nature's miracle (enzyme cleaner for pet urine). I put a towel on it and a cloth mattress pad across it and a disposable mattress sheet on that.
The solution seems to deodorize and I washed the towel and mattress protector piece.

I have not found a truly my effective mattress protector

when you say the best you can get many answers all different, actually it depends on what you want to spend you can spend 5-10 dollars for a noisy Vynil cover and can spend several hundred dollars for heavy hospital-grade protectors I have heard good things about the Geary Wear products the mattress covers can runaround 80-100 dollars and you can get an actual mattress designed for incontinence and bedwetting check out Sani Snooze https://sanisnooze.com/

I purchased a heavy vinyl shower curtain to protect the mattress and never had a single problem. However, I sleep alone, and still use an absorbent waterproof cloth bed insert. I think these are also called chux pads (am I correct on that?) and that mitigates the problems of sleeping on plastic (either that or I just got used to it, idk) Perhaps you could cover your side of the mattress with the vinyl and have a chux under the edge of that, so your husband will not be on the vinyl.

I use a waterproof bed protector with a large waterproof chux on top of that. It really works and have never had a problem with a wet mattress. However, the top sheet and blankets can get wet if not protected. So to combat that problem, I wear adult diapers to protect them. I have not had a problem even if they leak a little. Just remember when buying a mattress protector, you get what you pay for. For something good your going to pay $80 to $120 dollars. Good luck on your journey.

I use a PUR encasing as they use it in the haspital too. This is pretty reliable but also expensive. These encasings working for years if you clean them in the right way. The normal way to clean them is wipe disinfections - not the washing machine.

How ever - they should be the last line of defense. So I use a washable bed pad on top of them which is then covered by the sheets. This is a good solution if you don’t have every night accidents because it looks much better if you have the bed pad under the sheets an more over they don’t move that easy. However - if you need them every night it’s of cause better to have them on top, because it’s easier to change and you don’t need to change the sheets too.

I had tried many bed covers and pads to put down. I could never find one the works and was still washing bed sheets. I finally had to use a diaper and as my incontinence got worse I was in diapers. At first I’m my 20s it was difficult to deal with and I still feel embarrassed and uncomfortable with wearing diapers.

Purplehairlady asked a couple of questions. She wants a durable, quiet and comfortable mattress protector. There are a number of products that meet the first two requirements. Comfort is the real problem. Products that form a moisture proof barrier reflect heat. PUL is one of the less reflective materials but it too will be warmer than most people prefer.

I use these. They last a long time. Over a year plus. I also use a bed pad on top of the sheet. My main protection is a diaper.

The bed pads i use. These stay in place.

For my bedwetting we take a multi layer approach. We have a waterproof zippered cover over the matters then put a fitted waterproof quilted top matters protector on the top. Then there is the fitted top sheet over that. For my side of the bed I have a quilted full length (34"x72")waterproof mattress (bedwetter) pad that I sleep on. Then the top sheet. When I do have an accident and wet the bed the bedwetter pad contains the pee and wicks it so that it does not feel overly wet. Sometimes after a bedwetting incident when I wake up in the morning I do not realize right away that I had bed wetted due to the wicking. My wife's side and the rest of the bed, even my side under the bedwetter pad stays dry. In the morning after a wet night I only have to wash the bedwetter pad, top sheet and the clothes I was sleeping in.

We got it off of Amazon and it was made by RMS, look for

RMS Ultra Soft 4-Layer Washable and Reusable Incontinence Bed Pad - Waterproof Bed Pads, 34"X72"

It is really soft, cool and not hot or noisy like sleeping with a crinkly plastic protector. I'd recomdent to give it a try.
