Being Thankful

As we celebrate Thanksgiving in the US, it can be hard to feel thankful as many of us are dealing with medical issues. Incontinence, OAB, IC, cancer, and the other issues we face can leave us feeling overwhelmed, depressed, and angry.

For me, I find that focusing on the things that are positive in my life can help keep my head from going too far down the path into despair. Personally, I'm thankful that I have my family that provides me with immeasurable support and encouragement, that I have a job that's been supportive of me with my medical issues, and that I have this community to help me get past some of the rough patches.

What are you thankful for?

We don't celebrate Thanksgiving here in the EU but it is always worth reflecting what we should cherish. I hope you all in the US had a great time with family and loved one's.

Reading your words i realise i am on this path down toward dispair and depressing. I am thankful for my family who give me the joy in life to carry on, and my work which makes me feel meaningful in society. At the same time what makes me happy and proud also makes me fear for the future. My condition has worsened so slowely but gradual over the last 20 years that i am afraid this will also slip through my fingers. The future is not something i look forward to.
