Hi,

Went to my forth urologist appt yesterday - the two previous pills did not work - Myrbetriq & Gemtesa - I’m mainly a heavy nighttime bed wetter however not every night. - I read the side of effects of Solifenacin and got a little concerned - would appreciate users opinions about the OAB drug if it works or if the side effects that it causes are not worth taken it

Thanks

Chad

Hi Chad,

I have been on that in the past. I think it helped slightly however I was taking it in addition to merbetriq and now I am on just 50mg of Merbetriq.

I wouldn’t worry too much about the side effects as I just quickly went thru them other than the obvious allergic reactions. It didn’t really look much different than merbetriq. My issue would be probably it added to my dry mouth.

I believe I was taken off of it as they just went up on my Merbetriq. Lol oh the joys.

Hope it helps you slightly.

Cheers

I am using it no issues. Due to several times a day all of a Auden just let loose all urine. That has stoped taking this. Incintenace due to radical prospecting. Dry mouth several weeks. Not an issue now.

It’s up to you Chad but understand why you think I said you should try them. Lol.

But honestly if the other meds haven’t worked for you I would say why not try Vesicare or it’s generic name the solifenacin. I would say you don’t have much to lose other than maybe being dry one night lol 😂. However have they even been able to identify why you have these issues in the first place.

Cheers

Honestly no clue on that, your foot pain, Chad. Better talking to a medical professional on that as I have no clue if it could be something much more serious. That’s my only caution as from personal experience I am horrible at communicating symptoms to anyone which came to light back in 2016 prior to being diagnosed with relapse remitting MS.

Wish I was more helpful but honestly my feet were numb for 5-6 years before I told anyone about it and then I was diagnosed with MS after it got to the point I was bed ridden for 6 weeks and puking my guts out due to numerous lesions in my brain; doctors first diagnosed me with viral vertigo however that never changed until I pressured them to give me a requisition for an mri paid for it privately and then finally admitted to the hospital with a severe burden of disease noted on the mri.

I was a workaholic and just thought my body would fix itself. Lol it didn’t. ;)

Cheers

Hi Jason

No - I feel like I’m a ginipig with my urologist- I’m going off the grid ( meaning no pills) and see where I’m at - after I will start the Solifenacin) to see if pills work - thank you

Chad

Fair enough Chad, sometimes it’s nice to have a clean slate so you know exactly what the medication is doing.

Props to you for taking that approach. :)

Good luck 🤞

Thanks - before I take the Solifenacin I want to measure where I’m at regarding night accidents - then go from there - I know a lot of people on here state pills did not work or the side effects are not worth it I’m weighing my options…

I feel I should chime in here- I don't take any of the meds on the market for this because of the side effects. Specifically, the increased likelihood of dementia with (apparently) all of these medications. My incontinence is due to a head injury and damage done to my urethra while catheterized for that. The issue for me is that I already deal with most of the side effects from these meds from my concussion- and that was 32 years ago, so obviously, it 'ain't gonna clear up at this point. I figured that taking the pills they offered would make the symptoms worse, and I wasn't going to agree with that when I was already wearing incontinence products and had been since 1988. I guess my point here is that I would suggest you do a LOT of research before touching any of these pills and decide if 'some improvement' is worth the risks involved.

Well put Jeffswet as I think that is the ultimate question anyone needs to ask themselves and answer for themselves honestly.

It’s like we ourselves know our own bodies the best since we live in them 24/7.

And what works for one person may not work for the next. As we are all unique in our own special ways.

Learn yourself, and be open to change as change isn’t always a bad thing. But hey if you are fine wearing diapers and it doesn’t bother you then don’t change if you don’t want too. That’s basically my attitude.

Be true to one’s self no matter what. ❤️

I have been taking solifenacin every night for the past 5 weeks, and I have not seen any appreciable improvement in my urinary incontinence and OAB. I also have not had any side effects to speak of. I want to give the medication a little more time. I will be meeting with my urology team in two weeks, and I will bring it up with them then.

I take Solifenacin. It reduce my incontinence from 30 ounces down to 20 ounces in about 1 week.

Gemtesa did not work for me. Myrbetriq helped about 2 more ounces. I read some where that it takes 8 weeks for Myrbetriq to start working.

Gemtesa and Myrbetriq are the same class of medicine.

Solifenacin is generic and been around for awhile.

Thanks for everyone’s feedback - i refused Gemtesa at the pharmacy because of the price even after my insurance it would have been $70 out of pocket after my insurance- pharmacist stated my insurance covered $470.00 of the total price and I still would have to pay $70 - not worth it for me - diapers would be cheaper - I will not get into why a pill to stop bed wetting the pharma crooks want to charge that much - for the six weeks I was on Gemtesa (free samples from the urologist)I had 12 nighttime accidents - so I’m taken a different stance - off of all pills for at least a month to see what the frequency of my accidents will be - then I will decide if I want to try Solifenacin which after my insurance cost me $10 a month - Im a little scared of the side effects - I’m doing my own experience cuz the docs just want you to be a Ginipig for pills - not happy with my urologist especially with this new semi embarrassing condition. 1st morning with no pills - dry diaper - yea - will keep you all posted - wow never thought I would be dealing with all this - thanks for all your support
