After all this started back in December of 2018 I got used to dealing with DHS and social services. Well it looks like I am heading that way again.
Right now, my employer is working on getting me listed as on leave of absence. I still have FMLA but that leave of absence means that I only have a few options for keeping my health insurance. 1) Physically take a check for my premium to my payroll team at work, 2) switch my insurance to self-pay but then I may loss my group benefit, 3) change over to the other insurance which would be the same but more out pocket 4) lose my current insurance, 5) apply for government payed health care.
I cannot lose my insurance no matter what. If you seen how much my medical bills would be right now without insurance, you would understand.
The big issue with all of this is that I do not currently have an ID, drivers license for the state that I live in…It is still from Florida and not Pennsylvania so some of the spots where they ask for information I cannot fill out because my license format is different that what it will let me put in.
I am also still waiting on Long term disability to decide my claim and then must wait to get a payment. I will go from making almost 3k per month pretax to only getting 1,400 that is a big dip, but I can make it work. I am supper worried though because it could take tell the end of November to decide and I have no other way to pay bills right now.
The little bit of hope I do have is that I am going to try to get to go back to Florida for thanksgiving this year and see family, and pick up a few things that my parents cannot bring up here. I am also hoping to be able to go hunting this year which is my big de-stress event that I have not done in years.
For those that have gone through DHS for help with things, is there any tips you can offer?
After this week I will have about $50 to my name until long term kicks in. My parents will take me for food but now I will have no money for gas to go to appointments they may have to take me to them as well.
I never though I would move up her to Pennsylvania and end up in this bad of shape both physically and financially.
