22 month follow up

I had a follow up with my surgeon’s office yesterday. It was 20 months to the day since my prostatectomy. I am happy to report that my PSA was described as undetectable. The incontinence is almost bull at this point. I do have the occasional accident at night. Three things are probably causing this. Number one - I just do not stay on top of the Kegels, Number two - I am stupid and drink way more liquid than I should after supper in the evenings, and Number 3 - my local urologist thinks I may just be getting so relaxed in my sleep that it just turns loose at times.

Anyway I know I can control two of the three if I would just do it.

The ED on the other hand is tough to deal with. I have tried Viagra and Cialis with little to no response to either. However, Trimix was successful just too painful. Bimix on the other hand works well and for good duration. I have been pleased with how well the Bimix works.

My update at two years post surgery. Minor leakage and im going to have a sling put in. My PSA doubled a couple months ago and having to go in for radiation. On hormones now to drop the PSA while I wait to heal from the sling surgery. I'm 73.5 years old, and hope to get a few more years out of this crazy world without leaking!

Sorry to hear that you have to do radiation. I hope the sling procedure does well for you as well as the radiation. You seem to have a great attitude and that goes a very long way dealing with all this stuff. Hang in there and best wishes to you.

Glad to hear your PSA is so low! When did you notice an improvement with your incontinence? I haven't seen much improvement after 5 months, but my urologist says that isn't surprising considering I recently had TURP surgery.

@fuzzykiwi48 sorry no experience with TURP. In my case though I was very discouraged at the 4 month mark but was reassured that by the 8 month mark I would have a different outlook. And I did. It wasn’t long after 4 months that things started to improve and I was in pretty good shape by 8 months.

Hang in there. Stay hydrated. Believe it or not that actually is a good thing. And do as I say not as I do, lol, do the Kegels and watch your liquid intake within about three hours of bedtime.

Best wishes.

@Alh63, thanks! I'm doing kegels and hydrating, "doc." My pelvic floor pt says that the muscles are strong, just need to wait it out. Patience...

I know, I know. My advice to others is to get out there as much as possible - work, play, walk, whatever it takes.

I am 76 years old and 18 months post op. No incontinence. I have been lucky but also do Kegels, and never miss a day. ED has been problematic, but Trimix is effective. I would like to find an ED specialist who takes the time with me. I am in North Florida, but willing to travel. Any suggestions?
